ANKARA, Turkey—Turkey's military says about 10,000 soldiers are taking part in its offensive against Kurdish terrorists, making it the nation's largest attack on the insurgents in more than three years.
The military launched the offensive on Wednesday after Kurdish rebels carried out raids near the Turkey-Iraq border that killed 24 Turkish soldiers.
The military said 22 battalions, or about 10,000 soldiers, were taking part in the offensive, but it didn't say how many of them were in southern Turkey and how many in northern Iraq.
But it was the largest such offensive since early 2008.

That is what the current Turkish government tried to do for the last couple of years by granting Kurds many rights. Even though Kurds enjoy equal freedom of expression and other types of freedom, some still want to form their own country. They try to express and achieve their goals through killing civilians and soldiers alike.

The Turkish republic has for decades suppressed Kurdish minority rights, we have to accept that. That is why Kurds felt separated, which is understandable. This situation needs a longer time to be completely solved. I think what the current government has initiated has the capacity to solve this issue/problem. If we try to answer fire with fire, only bigger fire will appear.

Firstly, if necessary, we have to speak with their leader Ocalan. If speaking with the terrorist leader can prevent even the loss of one life, we MUST consider that option. Conflict will only beget conflict, but peaceful approaches can move mountains. Remember those PKK members that climb the mountains and attack Turks and Kurds, have aspirations and goals. We need to inform all the Kurds in Turkey that Turkey is their country at least as much as it is ours and that the soldiers fight and die for their protection and well being.

Even if this report is true, I admire Turkish courage to go after terrorists even if required to cross borders. This shows that Turkish military is given enough liberty to take decisive steps. While I prefer Ataturk's style of management than Erdogan's, the Turkish method of dealing with anti-national elements is very impressive.

Good work Turks. Wish we could also do the same. You're an inspiration in fighting against terrorists.

And i asked you, can your country be a sample? First you give your lend to India, Pakistan or someone else if it is easy. Dude talking is very easy. What kind a maniac would give up and give his own lands to someone? Do you think these countries would to do that? I dont think so.

I am a Kurdish and i know Kurdistan is a dream. We must support our country towards imperial states. Pkk/Pjak and others are just terrorist groups which serve for imperials... Do you understand me?

2008 invasion was not success because of USA. Usa forced Turkish gov. to pull back the troops. So Turkiye didnt have success operation in 2008. But today is very different than 2008. Turkiye and USa gave a chance to N. Iraqi gov. for wiping out pkk units from N.Iraq since 2008 but they couldn't. Actually, they didn't want do somethings against pkk. As i said today is very different. Usa besides Turkiye to solve this problem and wipe the terrorist units out from N.Iraq. But this operations are not based massive army invasion. This time special forces hit the targets with air support.

From now on, Turkish gov. has different tactics for sure. PM Tayyip Erdogan and Pre. Abdullah Gul said that they will divide the tactics as kurdish issues and pkk terrorism. Now gov. works on to make a new constitution for lifting democracy and human rights for everyone and fight against terrorists mercilessly till got success result.

We kurds want democratic rights do not divide our country. I hope this new tactic of gov. will work and solve this issue. We know it will take sometimes but we must be patience and beside of our gov. Being a kurdish, i support akp gov. on this policy. Separatist kurd/ermenians must recognize we will not support them and pkk doesn't represent us.
