Ankara. Turkish President Abdullah Gul does not rule out a military conflict due to the Iran nuclear issue, RIA Novosti reported, citing the Turkish President, who talked with the command of the academy of the Turkish armed forces.
Assessing the situation in the region, Abdullah Gul said that if military conflicts and civil wars break out, the region will be involved in a situation of “new uncertainty and chaos.”
“In such conditions Turkey cannot afford following the events from a distance; that’s why diplomatic activity and military preparedness are not a matter of choice to Turkey, but necessity,” said the Turkish President.

The message is clear, they are saying that mediation of Turkey might be Iran's last chance.

Erdogan Calls on Iran to Act 'Honestly'
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday called on neighboring Iran to act honestly after Tehran's about-face on Istanbul as the venue for nuclear negotiations.

"It is necessary to act honestly. They continue to lose prestige in the world because of a lack of honesty," Erdogan told a televised press conference in the latest salvo in the war of words between the two countries.

He was speaking a day after Iranian officials announced that it no longer wanted Turkey to host the next round of nuclear negotiations between Tehran and world powers, apparently because of Ankara's stance on the Syria crisis.

Instead, Tehran says Baghdad or Beijing could hold the meeting due April 13 and 14.

"Taking into account the extremist and illogical position of Turkey on Syria... Turkey has de facto lost any competence to host the meeting," Aladin Borujerdi, the head of the Iranian parliament's foreign affairs commission, said Wednesday.

Turkey has for the past two years acted as an intermediary between Iran and world powers on the nuclear issue. But its increasingly strident stance against President Bashar al-Assad's regime over more than a year of deadly violence in Syria has been poisoning relations.

Erdogan said Iran would gain prestige if the talks were held in Turkey because "we will display a fair approach".

Iran said it no longer wanted Turkey to host the nuclear talks after it staged a second "Friends of Syria" conference last Sunday which was sympathetic to the Syrian opposition.

Iranian parliament speaker Ali Larijani criticized the meeting, prompting Turkey's foreign ministry to summoned the Iranian ambassador Wednesday to express Ankara's dismay at comments that "obviously contradicted the deep-rooted relations" between the two countries.

Ties have soured since Ankara agreed to implement a NATO-led early warning defense system last year, which Iran deems is hostile to the Islamic republic.

Ankara has also joined a U.S.-imposed sanctions push to cut purchases of Iranian oil.

You threatening Iran?
lol, your country has not even intervened in Syria, you think you can handle Iran?

the president is just saying, "look we have done everything we can to help you out, even when your friends sold you out. but we are really starting to get pissed by your stupid game right now"

bringing in Syria in this argument... :hitwall:

we threatened with action against Syria in 99, what did assad do? hide in the corner of his room and accept Turkeys demand. we alone won't but NATO is eager after some work... you can start by giving them some.

. . . .
what do you expect from a NATO member?

what do you expect from an unthankfull idiot.

and no Iran hasn't done anything to prove it.

Seriously what turkey has to do with Iran. Is it just showing off or they really wanna play on behalf of Uncle Amerika

i don't know? maybe because we are neighbours and Turkey has helped Iran on numerous occasions and now Iran is just saying "f*ck you" way to go Iran. pissing people off... excelent way to make friends.

Wow man you need to chill, go to the beach or something.

what has your country done for Iran, except say "we do no support sanctionc against Iran?"

voted against a resolution together with Brazil

made NATO specifically not mention Iran in the defence shield agreement

you keep on talking **** about a country that tries to do something good for you while on the other hand praising Russia as god even though they agreed to sanctions.

a NATO member saying no to sanctions against Iran... show me one more country in the west doing so. none. show me one ally of Iran standing against "the evil west and zionist aipac led USA" where is mighty Russia now?

why it doesn't help while a country that shouldn't in the first place reaches a hand and says we'll help you.

this is your way of saying thanks? you can take it and shov it up your's no thanks, we should have laid of talks years ago. this regime has nothing good coming out of it. just piss...

we can finally see the real face of the Irani regime.

Iran is fooling around with Turkey and they finally see it. I'm Iranian but Iran is fooling around with the whole world with his nuclear program.

.
Hmm, this looks like it can have an interesting conclusion.
