@cabatli_53 Master the situation is escalating.
Why are they announcing such Operations?
I mean is it not better for us to catch them off guard?

To make sure there's no conflict with the US or Russia. This way they know Turkey is serious and there's a few days to avert serious issues if they exist. YPG has no hope against Turkey anyway so militarily it's not a big loss. The same kind of announcement was made prior to Euphrates Shield and Olive Branch.
Why are they announcing such Operations?
Its intentioal and part of strategy for years now. They have a purpose. Turkey dengled statments like these over and over , going back before euphrates shield. Majotiry never came to fruition, but 3 did. Remember OLive branch, it was dengled multiple times, and then it heppened still having a suprise effect - majotiry of analysts were Erdogan is bluffing again. Idlib thing also was a suprise, again narrative was Turks are bluffing they will never stand up to Russia...we all know what heppened.
Also, there is rising mistrust on YPG side towards US in recent months, after Jeffreys took the Syria file : US-Turkey joint patrols started rolling, putting those PKK leaders on US terrorist list.
case and point
this is also interesting. YPG propaganda channles were losing they mind.
That too. Ot just to test the waters, retle the cage a bit.
US if they are smart and indeed want to contain Iran and Russia in Syria, Turkey is only actor that they should be working with. YPG is heavily invloved with the regime and iranian proxies, coordinating with them in Aleppo, I mean who came to Afrin to give them a hand, even now their cells infiltratign Afrin are coming from regime teritory, they are not parachuting into Afrin. Also with Turkey as and ally, zone of contaiment can be set up to strech all the way to Latakia and Idlib. Choosing YPG as a proxy was one of major blunders of Obamas Syrian policy..
