Russia made a huge mistake by choosing to work with Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, etc.

Instead of choosing Turkey and Iran as their main allies in the middle east they proceeded to try to please all the Arab countries.

Believe me, this is the true reason why Turkey is striking Assad. The 3 most powerful Arab nations switched to Assad's side recently and this operation is pretty much telling them to back off.
