The number of propellers and their shape reduce the noise emitted by the submarine (Its unique acoustic imprint).

But in any case the design of the submarine propellers remains a well-kept secret.

Turkish LHD programme gathers momentum

Turkish shipbuilder SEDEF has told Jane's that the Turkish Navy should have its new landing helicopter dock (LHD) two years earlier than originally expected and confirmed that the company is currently in negotiations to build a second LHD.

SEDEF's defence industry manager Selim Bugdanoglu told Jane's that at the moment a formal tender for the second vessel "is planned for around the date of launch for [first-in-class vessel] Anadolu", which is currently set for January 2019.

The project's roots stretch back just over a decade, to a Request for Information that was issued in April 2007, followed by local bid submissions in early 2010 and the selection of a joint SEDEF/Navantia proposal in late December 2013.

I hope it is true, that momentum is needed. I am sceptic about second vessel though. If we really gonna go for another, it should be a real aircraft carrier not a LHD.

Why would we need an AC?

For to be able to hit certain targets from an unexpected angle. For example our not so friendly neighbours direct their systems towards Turkey, they are much weaker to attacks from other angles. Opening more fronts will make more problem for them. ACs are meant for attack, they are better at that.

For our neighbours,we dont need ACs because there are no other angles which are closer then from our territory.
ACs are very expensive in costs and operation,we really dont need them.
Our LHDs(2) can carry at least 8 F 35Bs each which should be enough incase of.
Even Japan a Blue Navy country doesnt have an AC.

ACs(very expensive in costs and operation) are for countries which have Blue Navies or the ambition to and since we dont have the ambition to form a Blue Navy,we really dont need them.

Being closer doesnt make it always ideal. Force wants to be a blue navy, here and there officials declared this. You have a point but i am sure we can make use of it. Whatever Force chooses it will be better, mine is a fantasy. Two LHD certainly works too.

Agree. A LHD is perfect for us. With modification it is able to carry 4-6 F35B's and allows us to land Tanks and Troops anywhere we want. We woulnd't have the same capablity with a AC.

A AC makes sense if we hopefully one day grow from a regional power to a world power.

LHD are like aircraft carrier, you may not need dozens of it, but having few will give you power. It's also a show of strength. Plus Turkey want to project her forces around the world, Africa/Indian ocean and without something to get all your new toys out there.. it will be mission impossible.

More for very long time !

At each diplomatic crisis, Kissinger said always : "Where is my AC (Aircraft carrier) ?"

Because an AC, it is 100,000 tons of Diplomacy (Deterrence) on Water.
