Yeah that's right. However, US is offering Aegis to TF-2000's combat management system.

@cabatli_53 bro is there any possibility whether the Aegis CMS may be integrated into CAFRAD, or being flexed into Genesis CMS?

We shouldn't let the U.S. plant the Aegis system into such a critical asset. We should stick to Genesis.

EX. JOINT WARRIOR 151- Activity on board TCG GOKSU - 12 APR 2015 photo by WO C.ARTIGUES (HQ MARCOM). Exercise JOINT WARRIOR will run from 11-24 April. NATO’s three SNFs consisting of 14 ships will join more than 40 additional warships and submarines and 70 aircraft. In total, around 13,000 personnel from 14 countries are participating in the exercise. The exercise provides complex coordinated training at the joint level, increasing interoperability between Allied forces and providing valuable experience integrating land, air, and maritime forces. NATO’s Standing Naval Forces will test their anti-air and anti-submarine warfare skillsets, as well as conducting mine counter-measures training in advance of amphibious landings.

TCG GEDIZ, currently supporting NATO's counter-piracy Operation OCEAN SHIELD, conducted a passing exercise Friday with the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force ship JS HARUSAME. Operation OCEAN SHIELD ships operate in the Gulf of Aden and Indian Ocean, deterring piracy in the waters surrounding the Horn of Africa.

It brings so much pride to my heart to see the Turkish Warship Gediz in formation with the Harusame in the Gulf of Aden. It is an indication of the growing cooperation both Turkey and Japan are fostering , a much needed force in the region. I hope to see more cooperation between our two great navies!

Cheers to the growth of Japanese and Turkish cooperation and fraternity!

Beautiful ship!!

There are 8 ships in active service as of 2015 under the Gabya-class. They have gone under several modernization process; the Genesis Advent respectively. Last year, Lockheed announced Genesis Advent as official upgrade package to Perry-class ships and proposed it to Poland.

The GENESIS advanced combat management system includes the following characteristics and abilities:

  • A modern and reliable system
  • High performance
  • Open architecture
  • Capacity of tracking more than 1,000 tactical targets
  • Modern digital sensor data fusion
  • Automatic threat evaluation
  • Weapon engagement opportunities
  • Link-16/22 system integration
The modernization program also includes:

  • The addition of an 8-cell Mk-41 VLS for Evolved Sea Sparrow, including the upgrade of the Mk-92 fire control system by Lockheed Martin
  • The retrofitting of a new advanced SMART-S Mk2 3D air search radar to replace AN/SPS-49
  • The addition of a new long range sonar[12][13]
The Mk-41 VLS will be fitted in front of the Mk.13 launchers, similar to their installation on the Adelaide-class frigates of the Royal Australian Navy, which are Australian-built derivatives of the Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigates. TCG Gediz became the first ship in the class to receive the Mk 41 VLS installation.

The "short hull" ex-Perry class frigates that are currently being operated by the Turkish Navy were modified with the ASIST landing platform system at the Istanbul Naval Shipyard, so that they can accommodate theS-70B Seahawk helicopter.

Specifications of Gabya-class FFG:

Range: 5,000 nmi (9,300 km) at 18 kn (33 km/h)

Complement: 222 (19 officers, 203 enlisted)

Sensors and processing systems: Combat Management System: GENESIS (Gemi Entegre Savaş İdare Sistemi)
Search radar: SMART-S Mk2

Armament:

1 × Oto Melara 76mm DP gun
2 × Mk 32 triple-tube (324 mm) launchers for Mark 46 torpedoes
