Turkey's First Indigenous TurboShaft Engine 'TS1400' Prototype Successfully Tested

-TEI developed PD170 a 170hp diesel engine for Anka UAV has passed 3,000 hours of runtime, completed ground test mounted to Anka UAV, soon to be flight tested.
-TEI has been given the go ahead to develop Aviation Grade diesel engine with 210hp, PD210.

TUSAS Engine Industries with support of TUBITAK and Ministry Of Defence has commenced strategic projects in sphere of engine metalogy;

1. DİNÇ (start: May 2018, duration: 60 months) - Development of Aerospace grade stainless steel and nickel-based superalloys.
   
2. ATOM (start: April 2018, duration: 38 months) - Development of method to produce nickel metal powders for additive layered manufacturing, specifically, Nickel Alloy Inconel 625 and 718.
   
3. ELEKTRON (start: April 2018, duration: 39 months) - Development to produce a method to utilise Electron-beam additive manufacturing to make components of engines using Titanium aluminide and Nickel Alloys.

An update on the TEI TS1400 engine. It is no longer 1400shp but up rated to 1500shp. TEI TS1400 is now TEI TS1500.
Project is stated to be completed in 13 months, first production engine to be given to TEI to integrate into GOKBEY helicopter and begin trials.

According to the Turkish media, this engine is for both Gokbey and ATAK choppers!! On a specific question on ATAKs to be exported to Pak, they’re still in the process to a acquire the permission from the USA. If failed no choice but to wait for this engine to be fully integrated to the choppers after the stringent tests. This requires time. Hopefully, by 2022 it’ll be into a serial production....
