Aiming to end external dependence in defence industry by 2023, Turkey will enter a new period with the national arms transformation in Turkish Armed Forces.

External dependence in defence industry has been reduced from 80 percent in 2002 to 40 percent today.

TF-X to Replace F-16

With the recent deal between Turkey and the United Kingdom, TAI (Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc) and BAE Systems will cooperate to make the prototype of national fighter jet ready by 2023. TF-X is expected to be included in the inventory by 2030 and replace F-16s.

National Weapons

ALTAY Tank: It is expected to be included in the inventory this year.

ATAK Helicopter: 19 ATAK helicopters have so far been included in the inventory and more is on the way.

ANKA and BAYRAKTAR: ANKA currently carries out observation flights while its armed version is underway. ANKA-S armed unmanned aerial vehicle will be added to the inventory this year. BAYRAKTAR hits terrorist targets both within and outside the country’s borders.

FIRTINA AND PANTER HOWITZER: Fırtına Howitzers that can reach a speed of 65 km per hour and overcome obstacles of 3 meters in height has taken down both PKK and DAESH targets. Panter, the first Turkish howitzer to have an original design, on the other hand became a source of pride with its 40 km range.

HÜRKUŞ: HÜRKUŞ-A, planned as a training craft, has not been limited to this aspect only. The basic training craft HÜRKUŞ-A, was followed by HÜRKUŞ-B, the next generation basic training craft. HÜRKUŞ-C will be produced as a military aircraft.

CİRİT AND HİSAR MISSILE: The world's first laser-guided helicopter missile CİRİT for lightweight armoured or un-armoured, fixed or mobile targets was also mounted on ATAK helicopters. Testing of the HİSAR missile, produced for the protection of military bases, ports, facilities and units, is also being successfully carried out.

MİLGEM: MİLGEMs, Turkey's pride in the sea, are also being brought to use one by one.

MPT-76 RIFLE: 200,000 pieces of rifles will be produced to meet the Turkish Army's infantry rifle requirement. The first package has been delivered to the TAF and is being used.

GÖKTÜRK SATELLITE: Satellites are vital to both intelligence and surveillance. Work for Göktürk-3 is being continued.

This is a beginning, while it is at its infancy and it is a good deal of projects, we need to go much further. A military might respectful to our civilization.

all is well except TFX to start replacing in 2030 . I think its too early . may be in prototype phase .

We will probably have way more and bigger drones in combat by then.

Turkey will not be a truly powerful country unless it has the ability to blast its enemies from thousands of miles away. The projects mentioned above are obviously very critical from 'tactical' standpoint but what Turkey really needs is a truly 'strategic' capability.

Ballistic missiles are on their way with this "maybe" bora one.. But without nuclear power you can get yourself hundreds of ballistic missiles, you will not be feared...
So if no nuclear power, you have to make yourself a pretty strong army, in number and quality..

That is a bottle neck in national power. Pakistanis endured through two set of international sanctions and two wars to develop and consolidate its nuclear power and now it is paying its dividends. India outnumbers by Pakistan by a factor of 6-1 in almost everything but it still can't attack Pakistan. Turkey would have to learn this lesson and yes it will be very expensive.

Or... Well ..you ..know... few nuclear warheads under the table...an "outside" lucky help... :)
An US-Israeli look alike op... :)

It would be good to have nukes by that time. Something undercover like the Israelis.

I absolutly agree with you, Turkey need to bring it's armed Forces on a more strategic Level. It is Neccsaray to Support the Geopolitic in Eurasia, ME & north Africa. Also the Capabillitie to Develop middle Range strategic bomber will be neccesary.
