Turkey is still one of the most important countries for the U.S and NATO in that region. They need a strong country like Turkey to block any possible threat from Russia and China. Many people forget China but the real danger is China at the moment. Their influence in the Middle-East, Africa and even Europe is getting bigger and bigger. Economically and millitary. They cant block Russia and China with a comedy country like Greece.

So a powerful Turkish Air Force is important but they are afraid that Turkey is getting too powerful as Turkey has important defence projects like the TF-X. They try to find a balance in this matter. Powerful but not too powerful.

The US does need to use Turkey to contain China. China is really not a country that can be contained by the U.S. alone right now .

The United States will need the help of not only his allies, but as many other countries as possible, in order to successfully contain China.

Personally, I don't think the U.S. has much of a chance of winning because its own problems are so severe that it's like a boxer with a serious illness going into the ring.

You cannot simoly change your F-16 configuration willy nilly as it need to go through congress.

Dear, this is more to how FMS works, than what you read in the papers.

1) Not everything goes through congress, but when convenient for the industrial military complex, oversight committees are used.

2) Are PAF Blk 15 MLU'd a/c's and Blk52's subject to the same oversight by TST's?

3) Please publish the notification / Congressional approval for PAF's Blk52;s DFRM's.

The first production AESA radar was Japan's F-2, and at the time it was the most advanced F-16 variant ever prior to Block 60.

On paper yes, but since it was an indigenous effort at building an AESA radr, it had multiple issues, of which range, track while scan, cooling, SAR, and MTBF were major ones. Keeping in mind that SAR was the primary reason for the F-2.

2 days ago President ERDOGAN said that USA has offered F-16s to Turkey as reimbursement over a blocked order of F-35s ( for the $1.4 billion payment )

and Turkey sent a Letter of Request (LoR) to the American government for the acquisition of 40 new F-16C/D Block 70 Viper Fighter Jets as well as the modernization of a total of 80 existing Turkish F-16s to the Viper standard

Even IF and a very big IF, somehow the -16's are sold to Turkey, even then the relationship's over. -16 is essentially a sub standard jet compared to -35. I can see Greece getting some -35's in the future.

or Turkey can buy 50 SU-35 and Turkish Airforce can use SU-35s as stand alone like S400s
