Turkey wants 'stolen' artifacts back from British Museum

@faithfulguy Here is your China.

You see how qin dynasty united China in 210 BC. After that, all the subsequent dynasties or kingdoms claimed to be the ruler of the whole China. When there are divisions, each ruler regard the other rulers as in rebellion. So Taiwan government claims PRC as a rebellious government. PRC regard ROC as a rebellious government. Did Maratha empire regarded Mughal government, the Sihk empire and the Tipu Saltanate as illegitimate governments and regard itself as the one true government of the whole India?

Guys,

Regardless of what became a country when, the basic principle is that archaeological finds belong to the land where they were unearthed, not to some robber baron who happened to swindle the locals out of it.

Stonehenge belongs to England.
Tenochtitlan belongs to Mexico.
and so on...

And have you not gone through the thread. This Mauryan empire had been debunked as not a representation of a Indian nation state long time back.

You do realize that the Chandragupta Maurya the founder of the Empire was born in India and died in India. He was born in Bihar.

But they do claim each other and the government is just another example of dynastic succession. In India, its the king of one state grow strong and conquered another empire. Such as Maratha empire conquered land controlled by Mughal empire. Are you saying that back then, the king of Maratha regard Mughals as a people of the same nation state. Hell no. Back then, Maratha empire regard itself as a nation state that take land from another nation state, the Mughal. And to Maratha empire, the Brits are just another nation state out there, like the Mughals. Now, do you see how the British united India?

You are wrong, all these princely kingdoms considers Mughal Sultan as emperor of India. When British conquered Bengal from Nawab of Bengal, Mughal Emperor from Delhi was called to provide deewani(tax collection rights) to British. Even during 1957 uprising Mughal King Bahadur Shah Zafar was accepted by everyone as Emperor of India. British just manupulated these small princely states many time creating new one, loyal princely states were kept as semi-independant in British rule. Bahadur Shah Zafar was exiled to Rangoon.

After independence, British left about 560 independent princely states, last princely state merged with India 1 year after independence.

Same way Mauryas united whole of India in 300-250BC. Even in India kings considered themselves belonging to community of Bharat(India).

Qin Empire seems to cover only small part of China, something about 25% of total area of modern China. So, how they united China

It's a community. Not a nation. Thanks for proving my point.

Faithfulguy u have no idea about indian history so plz stop with ur uninformed posts.India even today is a mixture of huge numbers of communities ,then what is the glue that holds it together? The indic civilization, similar to chinese civilization that is the basis of all chinese dynasties.

Mauryas never came from Mongolia but native Indian people. You are so funny Chini.

Just because they are native does not mean that they created"India" unless all subsequent rulers of all empires within India regard themselves as successor of the Maurya emperor. Did that ever happened in Indian history? Did the Mughal sultan consider itself to be the successor Maurya emperor? If so, than you are right all this time, and I'm wrong. Otherwise, admit that these two happen to exist on the same real estate but are not succession of one another.

It's Hinduism that hold India together. But Hinduism didn't created India. The Brits did.

Nope the vedic civilization did,all the others came and fused and prospered alongside this basic foundation.Artificial entities don't prosper, they break up like the african states curved out by brits.India is a civilization state. Its lengths are determined by the extent of indic civilization, not imperial whim.
