for example Dr Aziz Sancar / Istanbul University ( he won Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2015 ) ..... Prize motivation: for mechanistic studies of DNA repair

CAFRAD trials consisting of
Phase1: (what you see on the ship in those radars)
  • X-Band Multifunctional Phased Array Radar (CFR),
  • X-Band Illumination Radar (AYR)
  • Non-rotating IFF antenna subsystem,

Phase2:
  • Long range S band search radar (UMR)
The UMR is still in development (based on the EIRS radar of Aselsan) and will have a range of >600km. EIRS will be ready by 2019-20.

Turkish warship design office apply different integration possibility of ÇAFRAD elements with changing the place of UMR and AYR radars into different locations to reach an optimum center of gravity arrangement without sacrificing the performance of radars cause of height differences. TF-2000 will be an open-sea destroyer with heavy mission payload so seakeeping performance of the hull is also considered as an important issue.
