Turkey says US sanctions will not impact helicopter deal with Pakistan

I honestly think it's more like the US should make up its mind whether it wants Turkey as an ally or an enemy.

They're more than happy to have the Turks assist them in occupying Afghanistan and wherever else it benefits the US but kick out Turkey, a NATO member, from the F-35 program after it paid $1 Billion USD into the program and was there from the concept development stage while denying them air defense systems like the patriot and THAAD all while selling those same systems to non-NATO members like Israel and the UAE.

That doesn't sound like a nation that's an ally.

Even stranger is that the US arms, trains and finances PKK terrorists instead of partnering with Turkey, gets upset when Turkey targets those terrorists only to abandon the PKK anyways later on.

The problem is that the US disregards its own interests, security and freedoms for the sake of Israel.

My personal view is that this was about protecting Israeli dominance in the region and a assertive Turkey that isn't going to kowtow to Zionists being given advanced armaments or allowed a strong economy to develop them itself to defend their nation and the rights of Palestinians is a threat.

How any American could support this nation is beyond me when they see the US as a slave state.

Israel even boasts about how they've promoted unconstitutional anti-BDS laws in the US that punish Americans for exercising their 1st Amendment rights:

Americans are not free. Israel nit only controls american government but dominates Americans as a whole

Firstly, S-300 is not S-400. S-300 is actually a joke, as demonstrated in how Syria tried to use it against Israel and the system went berserk, downing a Russian craft instead LOL

The issue here was that Turkey purchased and deployed a Russian air defense system despite sanctions placed on Russia but India has yet to be sanctioned for its purchases of the S-400 nor has Greece, another NATO member, for its purchase and deployment of the S-300.

Furthermore the S-300V4, which the Greeks have shown an indication they'll upgrade to meaning future purchases, is an advanced system and comparable to the S-400 (aka S-300PMU-3).

NATO member US refused to meet its obligation of the NATO treaty and supply a fellow NATO member Turkey the air defense systems that were critical to their nations security and Trump confirmed this had been ongoing since Obama.

The fault completely lies with the US.

be prepared to be shocked if Biden takes the sanctions and restrictions to next level.

I don't think Biden when takes office would continue with these sanctions. These sanctions will get thrown out of the window the moment Biden administrations takes hold of power.

I agree with Irfan he is NOT going to remove sanctions immediately and he won't remove them completely at most he'll go as far as Obama did.

Biden is very pro-Israel I would say even more than Obama is but he's also a lot more practical than Obama was.

I'm also concerned about an Iran with nuclear weapons but I personally don't think Iran even wants them because they, like many other nations, aren't capable of using them as credible deterrents in fact I'd say very few nations outside of Pakistan, India, China and the US are. When you use nukes you're risking the deaths of maybe tens of millions of your own people and a nation like Iran doesn't have the freshwater resources, the arable land, myriad of mineral deposits nor population to survive nuclear counterstrikes.

The only way a less populated state could field nukes is to deploy A LOT of nukes like the Russians did so even against a larger aggressor it promises complete eradication of the others civilization.

Biden isn't pro-Pakistan either like people might think he's just more practical than Obama was.

I think we can negotiate with him on a withdrawal from Afghanistan alongside their re-entry into the JCPOA without any pre-conditions in exchange for removing threats of sanctions on the Iran-Pakistan pipeline and negotiate a barter trade deal with Iran for oil and gas. We could also assist them in their rapprochement of Turkey which would be hugely beneficial for the both of us.

The JCPOA that Obama negotiated, considering Obama is a close friend of Biden, isn't something he's likely to alter and would be very open to going back to the original 2015 agreement.

All about control.
These sanctions will be a blessing for Turkey in the long run. Turks are way ahead of Pakistan in manufacturing and look how Pakistan moved forward during sanctions. Now we have major projects of our own.
Turkey will develop the key components it needs. Engine tech being one. S400 is an excuse. Turkish weapons industry is running past western counterparts in some areas such as drones and lazer weapons. They have to clip turkeys wings. But knowing the Turks they will come back fighting with even better products

The title is opposite to the article
When they imposed sanctions after 1974 Cyprus Freedom ops ASELSAN was formed!!! The more of sanctions the better....

As for the Turkish Defense projects supply chain, some components may need to be readjusted. And, Pak is Turkey's BFF, and China is Pak's BFF.....

Important messages from Reis Erdo'an:
  • This music won't step here for it is an Ilahi Dava
  • We'll work two times more and two times faster to finish the current projects and initiate new ones so that Allah-u Azimushshan shows us the Promised Day
  • It's not about S-400, it's about controlling Turkey, which isn't possible by HIS PERMISSION
  • His final message is with the video of firing of the low-altitude AD system, which is 100% indigenous and got delayed due to the embargo on some key components that are now locally manufactured. Now, it's going for the serial production and commissioning in the Turkish armed forces
  • [Poster's note] They believe in Iblis, but we believe in Allah-u Azimushshan - it's the difference

India is not a NATO member. India does not operate any American combat aircraft - let alone F-35. The idea of imposing sanctions does not arise.

Greece deal for the S-300 with Russia was during the Yeltsin days when USA and Russia were friendly
I doubt Greece will be upgrading the S-300 today if they want the F-35

So Americans denied the sale of their advanced Patriot missile defense systems according to Turkish needs and specifications but also decided to bar and punish Turkey for its shopping from elsewhere to meet its air defense needs.

in essence the Americans wanted Turkey to be defenseless and vulnerable

Just the stupid Obama administration and probably democrats who suck up to EU morons like Macron. Trump wholeheartedly supported the deal but by then S-400 was too far along.

Useless Obama let Russia annex Crimea, make headways into Nordstream 2 and let Turkey Patriot missiles slip all for the sake of European countries who are nothing more than a crutch to the US thanks to NATO.

Its called hypocrisy

I'm afraid it will, engines are a big issue.
The T-129 will have to wait for a Turkish engine. I presume the army will fast forward plans for the Chinese WZ-10.

I guess it depends on our immediate need.

If possible we should wait for Turkey to finish.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo states:

"The United States made clear to Turkey at the highest levels and on numerous occasions that its purchase of the S-400 system would endanger the security of US military technology and personnel and provide substantial funds to Russia's defense sector, as well as Russian access to the Turkish armed forces and defense industry,"

India isn't a member of NATO but is a member of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (QUAD) which some view as the "Asian NATO".

So India's S-400 purchase wouldn't endanger US military technology which it was offering India like the F-21 or F-18 this year even after the S-400 sale was announced and even made advance payments for back in 2019?
US outraged with India for neglecting American F-21s for Russian Jets
US proposes to sell F/A-18 fighter aircraft to Indian Navy

While the US has imposed sanctions on China, which is neither a member of QUAD or NATO, for its weapons purchases from Russia why not India?
US imposes sanctions on China for buying Russian weapons

Does India's $14.5 Billion USD in weapons purchases that includes the S-400 not provide substantial funds to Russia's defense sector yet they face no punishment?
India's Russian Arms Purchases Hit 'Breakthrough' $14.5Bln, Official Says

Apparently Pompeo can't do math because the $14.5 Billion USD deal they signed with India seems a lot larger than $2.5 Billion USD deal they signed with Turkey.

Furthermore, Greece's S-300 doesn't "endanger the security of US military technology and personnel" but apparently the S-400 does?

I guess Yelstin made the S-300's to be friendly to NATO

NATO is aimed at Russia. India is not a NATO member. Turkey is a NATO member. India is yet to purchase a single American combat aircraft. QUAD stands for Quadrilateral Security Dialogue. There are no mutual self-defense treaty agreements as per the QUAD. It is presumedly aimed at China. Greece hit the S-300 deal in 1998 when USA and Russia had little in the way of a rivalry.
