Don't just read Wikipedia and come to conclusions, Ibn Shaddad Saladin's chronicler wrote Saladin was a Kurd (see The Rare and Excellent History of Saladin). The Zengids of Aleppo also mentioned Saladin was a Kurd. Saladin was most likely a Kurd, he definitely isn't a Turk as you mentioned earlier. In fact, some of the criticisms Saladin received from his contemporaries was due to the fact he was a non-Arab trying to gain leadership and rule over other Arab lands like Syria, Iraq, and Palestine. Although Saladin was culturally Arab and without a doubt a devout Muslim.
