Turkey may offer citizenship to Syriacs fleeing war in Syria

Why do you speak Turkish? You are not allowed in regular topics.

The reason I opened this thread is as response to the thread about Ashika Turks. Those people are denied citizenship but these Syriac scum who were 5th collumn during ww1 will probably get citizenship.

Do not forget what happens to Enver Pasha and his Turanic Empire.

Fvck I hope not. Giving citizenship to Kurds fleeing Iraq didn't turn out very well. Last thing we need is another minority issue on our hands.

Why citizenship, isnt residence permit not enough?

Guys you do not see the bigger picture , the Article is referring to Assyrians living in Hassaka province. This is the province the kurds claim as " western kurdistan " by giving citzenship to 150 thousand Assyrians in Hassaka turkey use these Assyrians to stop kurds from gaining independence in Syria like what happened in Iraq with the KRG .

Turkey would have sufficient reasons to send in troops under the pretext of " defending " its citizens in Hassaka to stop the province from becoming another Kurdish enclave on Turkey's border.

The Assyrians and Kurds are sworn Enemies from old times as the Kurds now control the villages and towns Assyrians used to live in Iraq and kicked them out after Saddam fell.

Syria is a mess right now and when Assad falls the Turkish Army involvement would be limited to setting up a 40 km buffer zone within the Syrian territory.

This article did not mention that there are also Turkmen living on Syria's border with Turkey and the Turkish government has made a political wing that includes All Turkmen political factions .

This is the policy Turkey following now , creating an alliance with all minorities in syria that have conflicting interests with the kurds be it Assyrians or Turkmen and I think this is a smart strategy.

The Turkish Army announced yesterday they will carry out a 10 day military training testing their mobilization capability in adana which borders Latakia an alawi majority province on the meditteranean .

Turkey to stage military exercise near Syria border - People's Daily Online

Even though I am not sure , but from these news and Turkey attempts to build an Alliance with Assyrians in Hassaka I can see that the Turkish government is working towards eliminating Iranian and kurdish interests in Syria .

If Hasakka , Latakia and Tartus falls under Turkey's influence after Bachar falls then neither Iran or Kurdish nationalist groups will have any influence in Syria.

Latakia and Tartus are 2 majority alawi provinces in Syria where 75% of Alawis live , Latakia shares borders with Hatay and the Alawis in both provinces share ethnic and religious ties with the Arabs in Hatay .

What I am predicting here is in a post Assad scenario the 1 million alawis community would rather have Turkish troops in their 2 provinces rather than seeing sunnis Arabs eating them alive for what Assad has done .

The post Assad period will be interesting to watch .

amazing analysis, you seem to know a lot about the dynamics, how come?

Yeah thanks Turkey like Turkey needs those Arabs instead of their Turkic brethren.
Why does Turkey takes them in and when we Ahiska ask them for 4500 Ahiska Turks they say no we cannot do that i dont understand anymore.Sometimes it would be good when we Ahiska would have been Kurds russian or arabs then we would get a Turkish passport......

I live in Dubai right now and I am half Arab/Asian , anyway Turkey is like the united states of the middle east . Stability of Syria is vital for the whole middle east because whoever controls Syria naturally controls Lebanon , influences Jordan and important for Iraq Stability. Iraq on the other hand borders the highest oil reserves in the world located in eastern Saudi Arabia and kuwait which shares borders with Iraq.

If things work out in a post Assad scenario then Turkey will have a direct land access to the Gulf , Red Sea and Indian ocean . Remember that Oman is right on the Indian Ocean and Saudi Arabia lies on both the start and end of the Red sea and Persian Gulf.

From Saudi Arabia ports you could easily reach eastern Africa and " Somalia " recently Turkish oil and gas companies such as Genel and Calik Holding discovered gas and oil on the off-shores of Somalia and from what you can see lately the Turkish Government has shown deep interest in that country. From Oman you can easily reach the far-east be it Indonesia or China .

All this can be achieved by simply send trucks from Gazientip in Turkey through Syria , Jordan and then you end up in the heart of the Saudi Arabia . It only takes 1.5 Days driving to reach oman on the India ocean from Turkey by land .

Qatar and Turkey were Talking before about passing oil and gas pipelines from the Gulf to Turkey through syria and you know that the Gulf combined has gas reserves more than Russia . On the other-hand Turkey Agriculture Sector produces Food that is enough to Feed both Turkey and the middle east , given that Turkey until Today did not utilize the Fertile land in southern eastern Turkey .

Basically Turkey has what the Gulf and Arabs are looking for and the Gulf has what Turkey is looking for .

The success of Turkey is important for the stability and well being of the place where I live now , so I wish it becomes stronger and more prosperous .

I am confident that in my life time I will see railways running from Baku in Azerbijan to Salalah port in Oman on the Indian ocean.
