What's new

Turkey lifts ban on head scarf in Army for female soldiers.

US Armed Forces to accommodate a persons religious or cultural beliefs, upon request and within reason.
Well, I rest my case. US military DOES accomodate religious beliefs of it's soldiers. To not do so would run contrary to the basic human rights of individuals.

And that steak and lobster dinner looks lovely jubbly. I am hungry. I need to grab some food, you guy's can keep up your discussion but I am off ....

Good move, we are seeing brighter days in Turkey, even if PDF insists in letting only the hardcore Kemalists utter their opinions and rule the Turkish section with impunity.

We fought for our sisters right so that they could enter universities and get a degree like a normal human being. Decades Kemalist repression denied them every right including the right to educaiton, health, dignity.

@Kaptaan
I truly appreciate your concern and sense of justice. But this site lacks those qualities. The moderators, including the Pakistanis blatantly let Cabatli abuse, insult, threaten, provoke and lie.

None had any problems in Cay Bahcesi until Cabatli insulted, threatened and accused me of a million things, including supporting terrorists, then his Kemalist gang attempted to insult, degrade and humiliate me by finding posts from 2010 wherein i expressed anti-Kemalist opinions. Have a look for yourself https://defence.pk/threads/cay-bahcesi.315137/page-1305

I don't regret anything, and i think i fended for my values and character to the best of my ability. Even when moderators here let Deno become Turkish Moderator who blatantly called my Prophet a child molester and my god fairy tale and brain fart. I left this forum in 2012 after witnessing an insult to all Muslims and my brethren in Anatolia. Today i'm leaving after witnessing something similar.

Farewell

If my understanding is correct you are confusing between old Moderator (Deno) who was picked for few months in 2012 with new Moderator (Deino) who is a Chinese MOD and I have hardly ever seen him making a post in Turkish section?

Finally. Turkey become more secular day by day. Secularism doesnt mean "forcing people to irreligiousism", but letting people do what they want without interfering other's beliefs. In the same way, if one Christian Turkish citizen wants to wear cross, let them be. Let people live their religion and all will be fine.

Stop there bro.

Dont expect us to show respect to you when you designate the founding values of our country as just a bunch of gangs.

Period.

I think it's funny how some ppl use the kemalist as an argument when they don't want to look into the mirror and evaluate themselves from a 3rd person perspective.

And outsiders using Turkey as a "model" for what they want to become not understanding the democratic values and the ruthless defense of these values.

Everything isn't peach and cherry, and the behaviour of the ppl today, who suffered until AKP came, is similar to what they had to put up with. one step back, one step forward.

If you look at a weight scale, you try to balance things, but atm the balance has tipped too much to one side.

As I see it, there was just barely a balance in the past (let's say the 90's) because the ones who were in power wasn't the majority, but rather a minority. The result, political discussions, negotiations in order to accomplish something. Most governments didn't get to do much because of this, but nevertheless it's more healthy to negotiate and accomplish something than force your will unto others

I am all for allowing religious freedom, but certain institutions require absolute obedience, and the Military is one of them. The integrity of the military must be unquestionable. In my opinion RTE and AKP is doing this because he feels safe with muslims and not secularism. By doing this they're literally sabotaging their own military even further.

I dont see any problem, from moral point of view, they have simply lifted the ban, not forcing anybody to wear scarf. As long as they have a standard version(color, length etc), it will be ok.
Other armies allow such symbols, I know turkish army has different history, but if you are slave of history you can never change yourself.
Now if it hinders the performance then you might have a point.(which I doubt)
