Turkey denies fighter jet shot down by Syria

Ankara, July 14 (IANS/RIA Novosti) The Turkish military has backed down from its previous claim that its fighter jet was downed last month by Syrian forces.

"The actual cause of the incident will be established after the plane wreckage is raised from the seabed," the General Staff of the armed forces said in a statement.

"No traces of explosives or flammable products were found on the debris recovered from the sea," it said.

According to media reports, the F-4 Phantom probably crashed due to human error after the pilots failed to perform an evasive manoeuvre to avoid the Syrian missile.

Syria insists it engaged the F-4 Phantom "according to the laws that govern such situations" after it strayed into its airspace. Turkey says the plane was in international airspace.

Syrian Information Minister Omran al-Zoebi has said his country's forces may have mistaken the Turkish jet for an Israeli one.

There was no missile shot at all, it was only Anti- Aircraft guns, the plane was hit easily because it was sol close and low altitude.

I told you nothing is said yet, what they said there is no traces yet because examine of remainings and researches is still continuing.

There still isn't a proof about the fate of plane, I'll believe a claim if its supported by strong evidences.

I don't know when or where is that pic is taken but could be related to Turkish-Israeli modernization program of F-4s which as far as I know done in 2002.

Apparently, both the US and Russia gave Radar records to Turkey; right now, a commision is looking at them....

But why did Turkey made such a statement in begin while the US and Russia's has different satellite images that can change the whole scenario? Turkey handled very amateur and i hope this will be the end of AKP. If not in total, i hope it will be the end of Mister Davutoglu that gave wrong information to us and the world and pushed almost Turkey in to a conflict because of this.

Forget all this; Turkey showed it's weakness by no attacking. Look, If a isreali plane was shot, their first reaction would have be an airstrike. Turkey should of carried out an airstrike to then say 50-50. Then we should have called NATO for aticle 4 and all that crap, the goverment is doing now..

The plane was probably not even shot down by Syria and you say that Turkey must have attacked Syria? What after that the statements are showing that it was a Russian attack in order to defend its territory? The image of Turkey would be destroyed in total then because the fact that Turkey cant do anything agains Russia.
