Turkey's exports increase to record-high $151.9 bln in 2012


Turkey hit export growth records for 2012.
With $151.9 billion export capacity, Turkey has surpassed its $134 billion export record in 2011,


Turkey saw its largest export earnings in the history of the Turkish Republic with nearly $152 billion in 2012, Turkish Economy Minister Zafer Çağlayan has said.

Çağlayan revealed the export figures on Wednesday during a press conference in the Turkish capital of Ankara. The exports rose by 12.6 percent to $151.9 billion in 2012 compared with the previous year, the minister said.

According to data provided by the Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TİM), the country earned $11.8 million in exports in December 2012. TİM data also show that Germany, Iraq and England were the top three countries to import from Turkey in 2012 and the automotive sector saw the highest increase in exports.

The source of the news can be none other than Turkish Statistical Institute(TurkStat). It will be interesting for you to know that they even keep the data of number of marriages and divorces taken place in an year. ( there calender & finacial year is the same.

the figures is good for 2012 while world economy in recession. But AKP govenment didnot take yet significant steps in demostic auto projects.

turkey is the only single country that while has wide and advanced auto industry but no has its own domestic auto brands yet.
At least there are 5 companies gurantee that they could make auto with 100 %domestic engine but need financial sponsoring in global markets and in the stages of creating golably new brands they said..
Government must not refer totally these projects to private companies..

i think governemnt has been alloting much money from national budget into public services, infrastructure and social subsidies..Almost one person get salary from state from every family by hook or crook...
it is good our public health improved at the level of EU standarts. but i deem that we are some living in higher luxury standarts than we afford..
may be im wrong..

This National Auto brand debate has been going on from last 3-4 years. Some two years back Turkish Government was discussing the proposal for launching a public sector auto company for domestic brand and later on privatize it. Social subsidies is an election agenda for garnering the votes of masses.

I could give you a bet that USA also imports more. Most developed countries import more, exceptions are countries that have natural resources and produce cheap things.

Statistically yes we do import more but do you know what a very very high percentage of that imports are? Oil and Gas upto $55 billion. If we don't count that then we would export much more than imports.

We are very diversed exports and economy. Main things we export are Electronics, Tv ( largest tv maker in Europe) , fridges, dish washers etc. Brands BEKO, Vestel, Arçelik etc these produce quality and reliable electronics.

Other things like Cars, Car parts, Textiles, wiring, etc

And China only has surplus because it uses its population as slave labor and keeps it currency devaluted more than 50%.
