14 security personnel killed, 21 injured in North Waziristan
NORTH WAZIRISTAN: At least 14 security personnel were killed and 21 sustained injuries in a bomb attack on a security forces convoy in Shabqadar, North Waziristan, Express News reported on Sunday.
According to initial details, it was a remote controlled bomb.
The attack comes a day after Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) said they would not attack Pakistan’s army in North Waziristan and would concentrate their attacks on Nato forces in Afghanistan.
A leaflet issued by Taliban leader Hakimullah Mehsud ordered those to stop. A senior commander confirmed the pamphlet’s veracity.
“O Mujahideen brothers! As you know, the Pakistani and Afghan Taliban under the leadership of Mullah Mohammad Omar Mujahid are engaged in jihad against the crusaders and infidels, and are supporters of each others in the ongoing holy war,” the pamphlet said.
“The enemy does not want to see us united and disciplined against them and are trying to divide us,” it continued.
Earlier in December 2012, two security personnel were killed and another two injured when an improvised explosive device planted by unidentified militants went off near a security forces van in Datta Khel tehsil of North Waziristan.
