TTP got hands on MANPADS

I think this is all part of the propaganda on the basis of which TTP wants to be 'in' in the media ...from where the site of Umar Media is being run .....we know very well....so calm down ....they are taking their last breaths ....!

TTP should go and do acting in Star Plus Serials , they are fcuking Drame Baaz

Why not shut them down then? Shouldn't be too hard, its a terrorist organization after all.

Indians have provided them these, even their media had first time claimed it that they are soon going to have MANPADs with them. But this just give further good news for pakistan as we will now have all the moral will to arm the freedom fighters in Kashmir and other parts of india with even more sophisticated weaponry.

Everything has a prize.
LOL

wrong.. Indian media were quoting Pakistani media when reporting about Pakistani taliban

just you try another 90's style insurgency in J/K, we'll scrap 370, expand afspa and be done with the Kashmir issue once and for all

indeed everything has a prize, these are your jihadi snakes that are biting you now, this is the price you're paying because you let the house of saud islamize and radicalize your society

laal masjid, taliban, contract killers, hate preacher mullas... <- Pakistan's internal problems, quit blaming India.

The heli crashed due to tech malfunction or pilot error or whatever, NOT due to being shot. PERIOD.

As for this video, it is genuinely a matter of graave concern...completely changes the dynamics of the situation IMO as far as PAA is concerned.

Small arms fire has damaged PAA aircraft before as well AA fire, rendering helis useless for the time, but this weapon can down a complete helo with a greater kill probability and greater range than any other thing seen before in those areas.

Loaded helos with 20 odd troops can become genuine targets easily now.

Point to ponder is that whether this system really works or if it is just a propaganda piece.

I think that their manpads are not in working condition and probably they are the SA-7's from the Afghan war era which are photographed and filmed for propaganda purposes. The batteries of manpads have a limited life otherwise Afghan Taliban would have used stingers against US forces. However the possibility of a hostile nation providing manpads to TTP cannot be ruled out completely.

Why not shut them down then? Shouldn't be too hard, its a terrorist organization after all.
Adult websites, blasphemous sites, youtube and even some torrent sites are blocked in Pakistan but I don't know why these people are allowed to do their propaganda even on facebook.

Well the ambassadors which survived the crash doesn't say that Heli got hit by MANPAD or something

doesnt make any logical sense , this could be a propaganda to malign GOP and damage the Corridor and belt.

This Great game is getting nasty and proves to what length opponents can go in mud slinging

it is a matter of concern, if they have access to a Manpad, but the matter of grave concern would be if they are able to Fire it, and have been effectively trained with this weapon.....(sorry i cannot watch the video, its blocked)
If they were to train this weapon, they cannot be doing so in the Open ground, fear of blown out from the sky by the Drone / or Jet......also gives up the hideout ......
probably picked up from the black market or their friends from ISIS in iraq. Or put it straight out - funds from RAW.
They have had to acquire this to counter the threat of low flying Gunships , that has been picking them out for a while......---
It is strange as Pakistan army declared RAW sponsoring terror in Pakistan TTP announces they have MANPAD in their arsenal. Point to ponder is they weren't able to obtain it in 10 years of war. What changed this time and how did they obtain it ?

Screen shots from the Taliban video of the SAM-7:

@balixd @Icarus It's a matter of grave concern

God help the TTP if they were to ever use a manpad against PA. The bombing would initiate an earth quake in Pakistan.

but Janab, it even took Mujahideen a while to get accurate with the Stringer, and that was after endless hours of training with the simulator - at the hands of ISI, and then hit & trail with the live battery, they were able to take out the Target ---- so my point is whether these guys have had that sort of training, if yes, then where & by Whom?

ISLAMABAD: Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan today released a video of its members holding a Shoulder Launch Missile, which the militant group claimed to have used in downing a Pakistan military helicopter killing ambassadors of the Philippines and Norway and five others in the Azad Kashmir.

A video released by a jihadist media forum shows at least four masked militants with the surface-to-air missile (SAM-7 B) allegedly used in hitting the Mi-17 that crashed in Naltar valley of Gilgit-Baltisitan in Azad Kashmir.

In a written message in Urdu just before the start of the video, the militant group claimed that the helicopter was turning due to which the missile hit the tail rotor of the helicopter so it did not get destroyed fully in the air.

The message claimed that the missile was fired from a distance of 3 kilometers to down the helicopter on Friday.

The Russian SAM-7 Model or SAM-7 B can hit a target up to a distance of 3 kilometres.

The SITE Intelligence Group, a US-based website that monitors extremist groups, also put video on its website.

Norwegian envoy Leif H Larsen and Domingo D Lucenario Jr of the Philippines were killed along with the wives of the Malaysian and Indonesian ambassadors, besides two army pilots and a Pakistani crew member after the helicopter crashed.

The Taliban had claimed responsibility for the downing of the chopper and said premier Nawaz Sharif was their target. "The helicopter was shot down by an anti-aircraft missile, killing pilots and many foreign ambassadors," TTP's main spokesman Muhammad Khorasani had claimed after the crash.

"A special group of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan had prepared a special plan to target Nawaz Sharif during his visit but he survived because he was travelling in another helicopter," he had said.

The Pakistan Army, however, ruled out the possibility of any terrorist or subversive activity in the crash and said the chopper crashed due to a technical fault while landing.

Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry on Saturday rejected the Taliban claim, saying initial probe showed engine failure caused the mishap.
