TTP got hands on MANPADS

ISLAMABAD: Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan today released a video of its members holding a Shoulder Launch Missile, which the militant group claimed to have used in downing a Pakistan military helicopter killing ambassadors of the Philippines and Norway and five others in the Azad Kashmir.

A video released by a jihadist media forum shows at least four masked militants with the surface-to-air missile (SAM-7 B) allegedly used in hitting the Mi-17 that crashed in Naltar valley of Gilgit-Baltisitan in Azad Kashmir.

In a written message in Urdu just before the start of the video, the militant group claimed that the helicopter was turning due to which the missile hit the tail rotor of the helicopter so it did not get destroyed fully in the air.

The message claimed that the missile was fired from a distance of 3 kilometers to down the helicopter on Friday.

The Russian SAM-7 Model or SAM-7 B can hit a target up to a distance of 3 kilometres.

The SITE Intelligence Group, a US-based website that monitors extremist groups, also put video on its website.

Norwegian envoy Leif H Larsen and Domingo D Lucenario Jr of the Philippines were killed along with the wives of the Malaysian and Indonesian ambassadors, besides two army pilots and a Pakistani crew member after the helicopter crashed.

The Taliban had claimed responsibility for the downing of the chopper and said premier Nawaz Sharif was their target. "The helicopter was shot down by an anti-aircraft missile, killing pilots and many foreign ambassadors," TTP's main spokesman Muhammad Khorasani had claimed after the crash.

"A special group of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan had prepared a special plan to target Nawaz Sharif during his visit but he survived because he was travelling in another helicopter," he had said.

The Pakistan Army, however, ruled out the possibility of any terrorist or subversive activity in the crash and said the chopper crashed due to a technical fault while landing.

Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry on Saturday rejected the Taliban claim, saying initial probe showed engine failure caused the mishap.

Taliban Releases Video of Missile Launcher It Says was Used to Shoot Down Pak Army Chopper

Where is the video??

if they really done this than why they dont have a video while firing the missile or something hitting the helicopter,,

TTP goons are quick to take credit for anything, it's just a propaganda nothing else and who else can help them better than Indian media, we already saw what happened in Indian media. They jumped into conclusion straight away and then ended up licking their own spit.

but Janab, it even took Mujahideen a while to get accurate with the Stringer, and that was after endless hours of training with the simulator - at the hands of ISI, and then hit & trail with the live battery, they were able to take out the Target ---- so my point is whether these guys have had that sort of training, if yes, then where & by Whom?

The point to ponder is, if they have this capability, why didn't they exercise it in N. Wasiristan, where they are being pounded day and night. These idiots are quick to make and release videos, I'm sure they would have filmed themselves firing a missile. Sometimes back, they even claimed shooting down of a PAF F-16, they were quick to show some parts of it, apparently all for their propaganda efforts. Apart from gunfire, no PAF or PAA pilot ever reported seeing a missile fired at them, and even if one was to believe that they have active man pads, is it remotely possible that they scored with their first strike. Naltar is a PAF facility, and with so much VIP movement, can you imagine the security blanket that must have been in place.

They made the video of Showing the MANPAD but not firing ?? Propaganda

The ambassadors which survive the crash said the Terrorist attack is not true..

The Mi-17 was about to land as reports so did that mean they came near the landing point to hit the heli ? and many were watching from the landing spot that heli is going down if it had hit by a MANPAD Army would have taken some action?? if the heli was flying at high altitude and got hit even in the tail router i don't any person would have survive that crash....

Pakistani kids always provide evidences to big kids in the game, Indian kids are just the numbers in this game.
Pakistan says it will provide evidence but till date it hasn't even provide one either to India or to the UN...

If you have evidence....do a press conference.....call the international media and shame India but the fact is you have none

Probably a stinger from 80s era being shown for propaganda purpose.
The PAF air chief and one of the Diplomats travelling on the subject Helicopter have quashed the idea of any foul play.
@Bratva
Sir surely this is a point scoring but TTP is showing looks an old soviet era sterla or stinger,an unused and unmaintained FIM-92 has shelf life of 4-5 years same goes with sterla,CIA,MI6 and FSB are both cooperating on high level to stop any dealer supplying Shoulder launched SAM's.
Missile trap is hailed as international success
US has eliminated all possible means to block supply to Taliban, they will not take risk even if India desires so because from TTP, Afghani Taliban may get hand on one, and you know what they will do.So' it's surely a point scoring and if it's so then SA is on verge of war.
Anza mk 2 in libiya .... Question is how these sophisticated weapons proliferated as far as libiya,Kashmir and Bosnia (Bakhtar shikan)
Libya bought them from Pakistan because we are also weapon exporters,In kargil you know one IAF Jet and Heli was downed by these missiles so possibly India got an early version from Tiger Hills,Bosnia (Bakhtar shikan) that were provided during war NATO knew about them.

sir g you are right, this is a propaganda video, and please lets just throw this Naltar tragedy being a Terror attack, because we all know the truth.

Indians have provided them these, even their media had first time claimed it that they are soon going to have MANPADs with them. But this just give further good news for pakistan as we will now have all the moral will to arm the freedom fighters in Kashmir and other parts of india with even more sophisticated weaponry.

Everything has a prize.

Your mother-in-law told you that ?

Pakistani kids always provide evidences to big kids in the game, Indian kids are just the numbers in this game.

Show us the evidence and then talk Kid.... Your DM is jumping like a money with saying indians are involved here and there and we've shared the proof and so... but where are they??? why doesn't he display to the public, media and the world body!!!???? The truth is almost all of pakistan have no idea

1.Did your govt exported MANPADS to Libyan Rebel who later joined hands with IS and other terrorist orgs and AFAIK Malaysia was the only export customer of ANZA.

2.In Kargil Manpads were captured from Khalubar Heights and Tiger Hill, clearly Pak govt provided these sophisticated weapons to rogue elements like Al Badr who fought in Kargil.

3What is the proof that India is Arming TTP ? whereas i can show you enough source even POF made weapons recovered in Kashmir.

It was an unfortunate incident and the survivors already acknowledged the helicopter developing technical fault.

We should give less importance to these left-over bunch of rats who are trying to claim irrelevant incidents to make their significance still count. TTP is now a history chapter of Pakistan with minor glimpses of presence here n there, will soon be exterminated (Insha'Allah).
