Pakistan will never have a stable western border. Taliban is an idea, an idea to implement Sharia Islam in an Islamic country. No war can kill an idea. It is motivated by religion and should have some moral support as well from muslims who may oppose their terrorist activities but support strict Sharia law implementation. With Saudi money funding these organizations, they will always have the fund to acquire weapons and jihadis who try to find purpose of life from jihad in the name of Islam. An unstable Afghanistan and Afghanistan-Pakistan relationship in doldrums and add to it the refugees who are being kicked out, have enough human resource for TTP who also have the support of Afghan Taliban. India also have problems with insurgency but none are blowing themselves up and killing innocents and also Indian insurgent actually love money and lifestyle. Give them those they are happy, like in North East.
9/11 changed the dynamics of Muslim world for ever. Today world is biased against Muslim countries except the south east Asian countries. This affects investments and Jihadi groups malign the image further. 9/11 has been catastrophic for Pakistan which lost lives, image, money and two of its important allies as USA and Afghanistan. I believe if Pakistan would have stayed away from engagements in Afghanistan, it would have been a much stronger country.

A ""cozy" nice rather warm place in hell awaits him, and other vermin scum like him and those who nefarious elements across certain borders who back these animals. One shot, one kill. Inshallah

Firstly we lack to represent the case on diplomatic front due to incompetence and even this case to be contested by Army.

Secondly, even by having that much power and sources, super Powers in Afghanistan are sitting like ducks so we must not stretch our legs further and should secure the border though it has to be asked for such op to remind them and a wake-up call.

Sir border can never truly be secured due to the nature of that border and these scum bags have time and again proven that they can sneak in and hit targets though being soft targets as previously compared. Pakistan cannot be safe till snakes are living comfortably across the border. Till date Mullah FM is at large and that is because he is been given shelter by NDS and RAW in Afghanistan. So till the time we dont take this filth out either by covert means or overt, the message from Pakistan will never be clearer that we mean business.
The least we could do is to make life a hell for these Afghans. Ban all trade and expel every single Afghan from Pakistan. Dont allow Afghanistan any transit what so ever till they mend their ways. Only those Afghans should be allowed that denounce ANA thugs and India. Choke the life out of this Shit hole of a country and let them rot. See how long they continue with this audacity of theirs.

this is interesting revelation .
that good taliban i.e. Afghan Taliban belonging to Haqqanis are now providing support like logistics and manpower to Pakistani taliban.. Inside Pakistan? So essentially becoming hosts of the natives?
was the writer thinking of Afghanistan while talking about his good and Bad taliban or Timbuktu? But then again if it was Afghanistan (the native place of haqqanis) then it would have triggered the question what are the NATO and Afghan forces doing?
so TTP leadership is inside Afghanistan but it gets support by "Good" taliban inside Pakistan?
this HAS to be a truth because it suits the Anti Pakistan narrative but then again if Pakistan's Good taliban are being naughty here then its not nice is it? It makes them bad .. NO?
Pakistan army better read this article as soon as possible otherwise Good taliban would continue to support bad taliban, thus undermining its war effort against the Bad Taliban.
OR, wait, is Pakistan army knowingly ignoring the good taliban who are the life blood of bad taliban and indirectly helping the bad taliban via good taliban? Must be something to do with its partnership with the Americans who time and again air drop weapons and other equipment to ISIS .. the opps moments continue to occur regularly whenever Russian or Asad forces seem to be gaining an upper hand against the ISIS.

@Horus @AgNoStiC MuSliM @The Eagle @DESERT FIGHTER @Arsalan please tell me how the Haqqani Network of Afghanistan ( while inside Pakistan) has become the hosts of TTP inside Pakistan? are they geographically confused or the writer pulled this gem out of somewhere?
So the army is stupid enough that they are supporting a group of Taliban that the US and Europe calls "good Taliban" (even if they call them with ref to us it is still them who distinguish as such) so that they can support the bad Taliban and that too inside Pakistan. It is quite hilarious @Solomon2
So what is next? What was the Zarb-e-Azab against? The good Taliban that you say are bad but you say that we say are good or the bad taliban that you say are good but we say are just taliban? Well sometimes you do raise some good valid points and i do like to read them but even you have to admit that this one was quite stupid and you got it all wrong in the excitement of bashing Pakistan.

A real mind fck moment given by the author of this article. seems like he wrote it somewhere uncomfortable.

TTP commander for North Waziristan touts operations in Pakistan
BY BILL ROGGIO | September 14, 2016 | admin@longwarjournal.org | @billroggio

Akhtar Mohammad Khalil
, the Movement of the Taliban in Pakistan’s commander for North Waziristan.

The Movement of the Taliban in Pakistan (Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan or TTP) highlighted its operations in North Waziristan, and featured its new commander for the Pakistani tribal agency recently. The TTP counters the Pakistani military’s claims that Operation Zarb-e-Azm has succeeded in defeating jihadists of all stripes in North Waziristan.

Akhtar Mohammad Khalil, the TTP’s emir for North Waziristan, appeared in a video released today that purports to show Taliban fighters operating openly in the contested tribal agency. The video was released on Umar Media, the official propaganda outlet of the TTP.

The first four minutes of the video show TTP fighters firing mortars, rockets, recoilless rifles, and machine guns at Pakistan troops in remote mountainous areas. Additionally, three captured Pakistani security personnel are put on display. While the date and location of the video cannot be independently confirmed, it appears to have been recorded in the spring or early Summer.

The last two thirds of the video is devoted to an Eid speech given by Khalil, who is seated on the ground and flanked by two of his commanders. Additionally, two masked and heavily armed fighters are standing behind Khalil as he speaks.

Khalil was appointed to lead TTP forces in North Waziristan last Spring. On May 16, 2016, the group released an official statement on Umar Media noting that Khalil pledged allegiance to TTP emir Mullah Fazlullah, and said that the TTP accepted his oath and appointed him to serve as the commander of its forces in the restive tribal agency.

As emir for North Waziristan, Khalil is tasked with opposing Operation Zarb-e-Azb, the Pakistani military offensive in the tribal agency of North Waziristan which began in June 2014. The Pakistani military has said for the past year that Operation Zarb-e-Azb is in its “last phase” and that jihadist groups of all stripes have been defeated there. On Sept. 1 Lieutenant General Asim Bajwa, the military’s top spokesman, claimed that 3,500 “terrorists” were killed during the fighting, and all but declared the operation over.

“Given the rough terrain of North Waziristan, it was a challenging task to carry out the operation in area, yet the armed forces were successful in clearing out all terrorist hideouts, caves and tunnels,” Bajwa said, according to The Express Tribune.

Additionally, he claimed that the Shawal Valley, a haven for a wide range of terrorist groups, including the TTP, al Qaeda, and independent Pakistani Taliban organizations such as the Hafiz Gul Bahadar Group and the Haqqani Network, “has been turned into Switzerland.”

Bajwa and the Pakistani military have claimed that under Zarb-e-Azb, it has targeted all jihadist groups in North Waziristan, including the Haqqani Network and the Hafiz Gul Bahadar Group. However, the Pakistani military has blatantly ignored the Haqqanis and Bahadar’s group, which are considered “good Taliban” as they are supported by the military and intelligence services. During Zarb-e-Azb, the military has only targeted the TTP, the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, and al Qaeda, or “bad Taliban,” as these groups advocate overthrowing the Pakistani government.

The “good Taliban” are the life blood of the “bad Taliban.” They provide shelter, safe haven, logistics, manpower, finances, and other key enablers that allow the networks to survive a military offensive such as Zarb-e-Azb. Groups like the TTP melt away while a rearguard harasses Pakistani forces, and establishes or reinforces operations in other areas of Pakistan.

Indeed the threat is bigger but what I am seeing is like deep cleansing inside and secure the house first then after we can focus on weak points used for trespassing. These implementations needs time and mostly money as well though a bit slow but steadily we are moving in right direction for such results. The task was long due but on other hand, we have limited budget and such ops costs a lot, a way more than what we have been aided, that we expressed on different forums in different times as well that it costs us more than we have been given while the aid during most corrupted democracy is never reached to the office as it was assigned to (you may understand). The security of the border and such points would be done gradually but as we have more enemies around than friends, it may need sometime and by the idea of CPEC, we are paving the way for good and needful results not just based upon future economy plan but by realizing the security and acquiring the necessary. These types of thoughts, approaches and write-ups are not shared unnecessarily but are speaking the mind of the adversary. Also, there is a gap to fill by strong diplomacy that we lack too much and by cutting the Afghans totally, will be like giving more space to the rivals to fill the space that we cannot afford anymore so we have to adopt a strong active diplomatic plan as well as support to security agencies so in the end a strong economy would be in favour of us all. US is aware of Mullah FM sitting is Afghanistan but as there are good terrorists for them and they it, we have to secure our walls and doors so cannot be damaged by such and on other hand by strong diplomatic front, at least we can highlight the issue in more possible manners.

I think Pakistanis should (1) be aware of the propaganda out there belittling their efforts, while (2) not fooling themselves about the reality. You can't undertake #1 if you close your ears to foreign voices and you can't do #2 if you restrict reporting so much that only the P.A.'s version of events is available.

I agree, both the points are actually quite right and we should, JUST LIKE EVERYONE else be doing both these things. :)

During the U.S. Civil War the Union generals often had to suffer nosy reporters at their heels. A huge amount of what they wrote was hype or trash. But in one case I read of General Sherman lost his temper and ordered a reporter hung as a spy - he had revealed that the Union had broken one of the Confederacy's signal flag codes, which was then promptly changed - a revelation that Sherman claimed cost thousands of Union lives. But Sherman's subordinate general Thomas disobeyed instead banished the reporter out of the South, beyond Sherman's reach.

Otherwise, the generals had to live with the reporting: for good or bad, they were the main source of war news consumed by the Congress, Cabinet, and Executive. On one or two occasions that meant high-ranking Cabinet officers traveling in person to war zones to check and correct misreported "facts" for themselves but on the whole having a free press (which the states of the Confederacy had not had since the 1830s) was a plus for the Union.

Yes, steep reduction in bombing, Terrorisnetworkwk fully destroyed. Only lone wolf attacks experienced.

Meanwhile, in Af'stan, Taliban capture NAto hardware, ANA themselves are selling them equipments and oil thereby enabling the real Taliban to capture large chunk of territory
The ultimate goal should be not a single attack or bombing. By settling for anything less we give credence to what is happening.

TTP is not just organisation it is a way of thinking based on kuran. all TTP wants is to implement sharia in Islamic Pakistan. and i think most Pakistanis dont have any problem with sharia. then why Pakistanis are fighting with TTP? this can be resolved through talks. Implement sharia in Pakistan and TTP will give up violence.

Now all this power and influence can be put to good use as well as bad! this is the thing we need to work on
