Top general: Turkey has killed 1,300 Daesh members

"Turkey's top general on Wednesday said that the Turkish Armed Forces have killed almost 1,300 Daesh terrorists in Syria and Iraq.

Addressing the 10th Conference of Balkan Countries Chiefs of General Staff in Istanbul, Turkish Chief of General Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar remarked, "In addition to the bloody suicide attacks against our important provinces, Kilis on the [Syrian] border has recently been targeted by Daesh".

"The Republic of Turkey sees Daesh as a terrorist organization, this was made clear in 2013," Akar added, saying that Daesh does not represent Islam or Muslims.

"The Turkish Armed Forces have killed almost 1,300 Daesh terrorists in Syria and Iraq and destroyed a great number of weapons, rockets, weapon caches, vehicles, and buildings," he stated.

Akar also said that Ankara is continuing its determined fight against the PKK terrorist organization.

"While the PKK is killing innocent people, it works to gain legitimacy in international public opinion. Similarly, Daesh is one of the barbaric terrorist organizations threatening especially our region and the world generally," he said." YeniŞafak

"104 Daesh terrorists killed in Turkey's strikes

The Turkish military said 104 Daesh terrorists have been killed in artillery and airstrikes on the terror network's targets in northern Syria.

Since 6 pm on Friday, 233 artillery rounds, four tank shells were fired and 11 airstrikes were conducted to hit the extremists' gun positions.

In addition to these strikes, 40 rounds were fired from a multi-barrel rocket launcher.

Turkish towns and provinces have been repeatedly struck by fire from across the frontier since mid-January. The center of Kilis lies 6 kilometers from the Syrian border, and the town has been repeatedly struck by cross-border rocket fire since mid-January.

On May 2, Turkish forces struck Daesh gun emplacements and ammunition dumps in the Suran, Arshak, Ikdakh and Ihtimalat regions on the Syrian side of the border, initially killing "50 terrorists". This figure later rose to 64." Daily Sabah
