Federal Minister for Water and Power Naveed Qamar said that to end loadshedding was not possible.



Talking to media after a function in Islamabad, Naveed Qamar said that load shedding could not be completely eradicated; however, efforts were on to reduce it.


He said that 4,000 KESC employees have ben sent to surplus pool. Privatization did not mean that the workers’ rights were violated, Qamar said.


He directed KESC management to settle the issue with mutual understanding. Naveed Qamar said that several power plants were closed due to shortage of furnace oil.

i live in town and has 3 hrs powercut.some indian cities has 1 hr powercut
per day.any chinese have cuts.

People say West Bengal is a backward state in India...but still we have no power cut. But the authority sometimes stop supply whenever there is storm or heavy rain. But 12 hr powercut is something serious. Generating enough electricity to meet ever increasing demand and keep it affordable to consumers is a great challenge. Pakistan need to build up more power stations-thermal, nuclear, hidro. The coastal areas are good for wind power I think and there is good scope of solar power in desart and semi-desert area like Baluchistan or cholistan. Another important thing is to reduce technical & commercial loss due to low quality transformer, theft etc. In India the figure is around 40% of total electricity generation. Last but not least. the Sarc countries shoud press hard for a unified SARC grid. Nepal, Bhutan, N-E India has immense potential for hydro power but they dont have the market, where Pakistan,India,BD have soaring demand. Everyone will be benefited. I think the politicians have lost vision. Instead of serving people well they are interested to use people's ignorance and cheap propaganda to maintain their chairs.....

is a unique country, given its rich array of geography. Pakistan needs a variety of different methods for power production......coal, hydro, wind, solar, and nuclear. We are endowed by all these things, there just needs to be political will --which there is not

and this is a good lesson for 2013. If you want democracy, then have the common sense to vote for proper people; not pimps/criminals.

Thats because you have no industries..
Come to Maharashtra and you will see MIDC (Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation) everywhere...all power is given to these MIDCs instead of residential areas which causes load shedding...situation is good in Mumbai and Suburbs but not so good in rural area..

There was nearly no powercuts(sometimes even in Rain) in 2005-06 & 07.

It is due to Zardari, he wants his share of money in any new project, so thats the reason no new project to generate electricity will start during his tenure.

Musharraf regime didnt pay the companies their dues... the dues fell upon Zardari government, and they also dont pay, so if you protest, government pays and awam gets electricity.
