Time to say goodbye

Look, I'm well aware there is going to be no tear shed over this; several may celebrate too. It has become obvious I have overstayed my welcome at nearly 5 years.

I miss the old PDF. It was known to appreciate civil debate to promote a respectful alternate point of view. The Moderator culture was one of encouraging diverse, challenging opinions. But in the last eight months, these forums have taken a very hard turn from what it used to be when @WebMaster was active here. People are now banned for no reason or made-up reasons and even for just having an alternate point of view. There is no longer the old practice of warning, pointing to a post for infractions and giving some explanation. It's all done quietly now; one does know which mod issued it any longer.

The tone got really ugly, real quick here: On a daily basis, a majority of the posts by members have turned ugly in its tone. Posts have alarming language- high instances of abusive, bigotry, and most surprisingly low tolerance of people of other faiths. There is just a lot of hate speech and seemingly freely permitted now.

I'm tired of the threats coming from some Moderators. Today- I got one thread deleted, which was about how Chinese women are checking for the gender of the baby in the womb (no idea why that was controversial, requiring deletion).
Then noticed some quiet infractions added on my profile (no notifications sent to me) after WAZ threatened me in a second thread I posted/started here -(https://defence.pk/pdf/threads/the-netherlands-luck-is-running-out.643622/#post-11902331).

Moderator Waz's actions, as you can see below in the screenshot I provided, went with an incorrectly assumed infraction, added it multiple times to help stack points against me. I have never faked my account; I have always maintained my background from the very first day I signed up years ago. I and many others are no longer being judged by the content of our replies, which was the practice here, but now on conspiracies behind our motives, and for having alternative views.

When I first joined, I had mentioned that I spent decades at the state department. Specifically, in the AF-PAK region, including India. That I visited Pakistan several times, India several times, a couple of visits to Afghanistan, and was considered a leading expert on my team for this theater.

This had made me a target when I began to add my opinions to countries in this region. I was taunted by some of being Indian, Isreali, and even a Bangladeshi citizen, at times. Yet, I was not bothered by it, because the moderator class was most always fair-minded and allowed the content of the posts to the ultimate judge on one's continued membership here. After all, even if you suspect citizenry, why care about one's flag, when discussing, debating policy and events.

Frankly, I'm sad to leave. I don't why being an echo chamber of the same views is the new direction here. In so many ways, this place is so unique and exhilarating to engage. I hope it course corrects itself sooner than later. Thank you.
Moderation has become uneven. I mean some guys are free to whatever pleases them, and other cant even make a comment. The special relations of moderators and posters has ruined the whole fabric of forum.
I say, if there are rules, then they should be implemented on all, not only on particular guys.

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing
and rightdoing there is a field.
I’ll meet you there.

the world is too full to talk about.

I understand, one of your prime objective is to assert Pakistan's narrative. But in doing so, you guys have gone too far. Only thing which I believe that this forum had lots of credibility and respect. But, if mods are ready to make compromise in achieving certain objectives, its their choice.
I don't complain because it is your forum and your rules.

It isn't like this and I am saying for sure. We have members that always thinks that I along with few others are pro-Indian... just search over few posts and you may find the same narrative. Then, there are people that even blames Team for being pro Israelis. Then we do have a lot that blames the team being pro-Iranian and then there are people that even relate the team being pro-GCC... so all in all, the same baseless & isolated thoughts proves the impartial & unbiased approach of moderation especially when they have almost related me to every group in this forum. Pakistan's narrative is to present our positive side as well at the same time where people do criticize Government due to political views and their own understanding but letting anyone to abuse, mock, insult or propaganda is not the way forward nor we allow. Dynamics of over all politics as well as foreign diplomacy are changing fast and there is a hammering tool called media which in-fact plays a major role to make someone's mind like the way whatever being propagated continuously.

You must be grateful to even be here, pdf is more liberal to conversations compared to your country forums. Don’t make me open my Mouth...

At the of 370 issue - Indian posters has been hammered...I was upset but later i realized... i am quite naive to think that a Pakistan forum will leave any true character of their country and allow any space to any view which is strongly anti Pakistan in nature..Then i slowly ... even i am observing after passive presence of Indian posters, now Pakistan posters are not even leaving their own country men with such pathetic abuses that any one can imagine.
Now if a Pakistan poster cant allow an alternate view from their own countrymen, then expecting that they will allow equality to any tom dick and harry american is just too much of fancy expectation from this forum..
And when people complain about Moderator, they think like moderator are so unbiased and super neutral people like chief justice of any court......At the end of the day they arw humans and they are prone to sensitivity too

Probably, your job has become more challenging because of mobile phones. Earlier we use to type on laptops/PCs. Members used to think and write. Now, you can write one liners on your phone.

why some one has to be obliged and grateful??! PDF is just like another internet foroum which was qualitatively better maintained than others...

Have fun time away from this place. The ultimate aim of the forum is making money and forum will always try to please it's largest audience.
Look for places that run on a non profit basis that are fairly moderated hence no pissing contest.

Regards.

Back in the day, there were a lot technical discussions on PDF. People talking about fighter jets, avionics, RCS etc. But these days, there are only junk threads. Rapes in India, toilet issue in India, Dharna in Pakistan etc. Lot of kids became elite through sheer posting of rubbish. I have been following this forum since 2006. This was most professionally moderated forum in all of south asia. Today it is just Pakistani (read pti) echo forum.

Any alternate views are deemed incorrect or offensive even though the writing itself is not offensive. Today we have to cater to sentiments of mods @waz @Eagle. Other wise they deem them inappropriate/offensive and ban them. Indian viewpoint is just garbage to them.

PDF used to be such a global forum because moderation used to be unbiased. Today non of the nationalities are happy (even Pakistanis) with the forum because moderation became arbitrary. Abuses are left unchecked. Religious abuse has reached its peak. Generalization rules the root here. Mods moderate through sentiments.

I hope PDF changes the moderation team otherwise PDF will be history in few years. I know this is not going to be popular and I would probably get a lot of abuses. I might also get an instant ban. But as a follower of this forum till date, I wish it to do well in the future as well but it is unlikely with this moderation. My 2 cents.

Time to delete or lock the thread :what: @Eagle. That's what you did to a similar thread a month back citing no proofs. Proofs? Eh.

Come on guys...You guys are speaking as if PDF was land of honey and sugar of fairness and now it has suddenly turned something surprising...
Rather, PDF is truly standing to their objective...Their objective alligns with the intrests of Pakistan and its core objective...Why are we Non Pakistani are expecting too much here???

China is their no 1 ally...Why would they tolerate even if you are being an American talking against China....USA is the biggest manipulator of the situation in the world...So when US people complain about China, you are simply making fun of your own stake...

This verse highlights three pivotal ideas: the realization of the spiritual realm, and the exploration of non-judgment and oneness.

Some people underestimate spirituality or see it as a trend, but as Pierre Teilhard de Chardin said: “We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.”

Rumi explored that truth in his poems. We don’t just live in the spiritual realm, but we are the spiritual realm. To see beyond our physical bodies and realize our true essence has been our purpose since the beginning of time. Rumi wrote about it eight centuries before the extensive spread of spirituality.

Additionally, Rumi establishes a firm reality: black and white are man-made. We are familiar with the beautiful and the ugly, the good and the bad, the true and the false. However, below the surface of black and white, there is a gray space we fail to see—a space void of conflicts.

We tend to judge the situations that occur in our life. We label the things we don’t like as “bad” and call the ones we like “good.” Our dualistic mind sections off emotions, thoughts, and events—and we automatically follow it. This mental division is often the main reason behind our inner and outer conflicts.

I suffered a lot in the past for failing to let go of labels. Rumi writes that beyond these labels, these distinctions, lies a serene place—this is where we should all meet each other.

https://www.elephantjournal.com/2016/12/the-rumi-poem-we-should-all-read/

In this field, which is void of labels and judgments, there is absolute connectedness. As he puts it, even the phrase “each other” won’t make any sense anymore when we realize our oneness with everything and everyone else. In our own minds, we think we are separate from others, from animals, from nature. The truth is, we all stem from one source of energy.

But we can never truly realize this oneness without letting go of judgments first. Seeing every living being as part of us is a step toward gaining a higher realization that doesn’t know opposition.

I love, and connect with, this poem because of how Rumi weaves these ideas together. We must first let go of judgments before we can enter the spiritual realm and realize our “oneness.”

Thanks...but my appriciation for PDF is not the same when PDF treat it as a favor...There is a difference bewteen this 2 statements..
Of course Indian forum sucks... people do not enjoy any forum where there is only one kind of views..But in pdf...we see alternate views ..

More onto that, people now think that use of inappropriate language will actually add a weight to the arguments. Personal attacks & provocations are now some kind of freedom of speech for the few & specific members on the Forum and as & when being dealt accordingly; you will find them complaining because Moderators are biased... really? How about that members shall not use such kind of language & do not rely upon social media sensational posts like some credible source. Those who are interested in quality discussion & mostly of strategic & defence nature; continues their arguments without having any complaint of such nature at all. Only trolls are having trouble hence, the baseless accusations.

Pakistani politics and Indian topics are not discussed in military section
There is a separate subforum for Pakistani politics one for social issues and members club
