Tigris Shield Peace Operation Updates & Discussions

PKK goes to YPG controlled Syria after leaving Sinjar, or local recruits return to civilian life. There won't be a Sinjar operation, it is under ISF control and there's no reason, desire or planning for Turkey to clash with ISF. The threatening however caused Baghdad to make a move on Sinjar against PKK presence, that was the objective and the objective is 'succeeding'.

Theres over 200 000 peshmerga's, only an idiot will believe he cant do anything about it. Peshmerga and pkk have always worked hand in hand and they are allowed to move anywhere with their guns just like we saw in kirkuk.

Why would he attack his natural ally, their objective is the same only their method is different

A Sinjar operation is very unlikely, the intimidation of Ankara apparently worked as more Iraq security forces arrive to the region but we will probably make an OP to the border towns.

I think because Erdogan mentioned it in TV, Turkey might still do the operation but agreed with Iragi government. As the election is coming in Turkey, it will be very important for him as otherwise Turkish people might blame him for talking before the operation and putting it into risk..

The emergence of YBS was the absence of ISF and Pesh, Pesh fled when IS attacked Sinjar in late 2014. These are local units, therefor militarily combatting them is of no use as they melt back in the local populace and will conduct guerila warfare if it's a foreign force occupying them. Baghdad is not using heavy force for that reason, they contained them and placed the small remnant of YBS under their chain of command.

Beating them down militarily is the easiest thing but has a negative outcome long-term, the Yazidis would take a hostile stance to Baghdad and the actual PKK group operating in the wider region would then take advantage of that to expand their operations to Sinjar. Currently that is not the case.

They cannot risk to attack Sinjar, because this will give Turkey even more opportunity to attack them back.. Also, Turkey is not like a UAE or SAudis that send armored vehicles without at least drone support and get ambushed. if they enter there, they even put technology in the ground that shows location if there any movement at that area. Thats how Turkey started to stop border attacks..
I believe Turkey will use some force from Yezidis and will be nice to them, as Turkey is against to turn anybody again themselves, there are really serious about it as they think long term..

A lot of Trump supporters are gonna be angry about this LOOOL
