Tianjin Blasts: Latest Developments

That GDP has one hell of a human cost man, I don't think the people that ended up paying the price would agree with you.
Well it doesn't matter agree or disagree ... it just work in China economy development. U visted both Vietnam and China factories ... u should understand it more than me. Whatever, u still select China facotry not Vietnam even u know that's not OKay. The U.S or Britain factory has higher safety standards, the problem is higher cost for the businessman.

I do understand it very well, its all about development at any cost, the thing is, many people in China also don't agree with paying that cost. And to be clear, everybody just about has some degree of guilt on creating such a system. Buyers in developed countries keep asking for ever lower prices and they don't care what it takes. I've seen it first hand how the big American companies (Walmart, etc) keep pushing the chinese factories for lower cost. That creates a vicious circle where manufacturing has to cut corners no matter what. Its a bad way of doing things, but this is the prevalent way of doing business these days. Myself, I'm part of that system, why I go to a chinese factory? Because I have to stay competitive or I lose the customers.

True, but even then, China already had even more deadlier record of industrial/man made accidents during the 60s to early 90s when China was still a poor isolated country, if anything despite the thousands of deaths/casualties from industrial/chemical accidents each year, its even a little better today in the 2000s even though chinas industrial production had increased way more than before when it was mainly an agrarian society. So i dont think it has just to do just with industrialization/development. Maybe mentality/corruption, disredard for human lives by local authorities who put businead/money/getting rich ahead of anything.

This development at all costcis wrong, you can still developed while adhering to health and safety standards(it doesnt costs that much at all). hunan lives shoud come ahead of anything. Since we can replace property,goods/services anyday, but cant ever replace a single human live. Wbo kbows what some of those deaths would have grown uo to become?

I just cant imagine what the famillies if these victims are goung through. Cant imagine if my son or daughter was among the deaths. Nothing can buy human life. RIP .:(
Thank you very much for your true words.
To be honest, you cannot imagine the painful progress for a later to finish industrization because UK is the first country that finish industrization in human history. When UK was in the industrization process, you could earn high profit because all others were agricultural countries, you could exploit the labors from other continents by wars, after you finished the industrization,UK has money, technology and colony ,you could put the UK human life ahead of everything. As a later, acutually,China is very very late to start industrization,we donot have rich resources, international market, technology and capital. We only have human resource, the only way for us to finish industrization is to exploit our people,if you cannot live on,human right is meaningless, the most important job for government is to provide enough work for the people, even the work is dangerous or poor paid. In fact, the industrization process of China is a very important event in human history if our decendents look at the history books, the speed is fast, the area is vast, the affected population is huge,so,the industrial accidents are many too. For us,The worst time has passed,we approach finishing industrization, our industrial accidents deaths will decrease graudally.
In the future,if India or other developing countries decide to walk on this way,we will see many serious industrial accidents too,I think it is the unavoid painful destiny for a country specially for laters, but I doubt the democracy government can keep exploiting people for decades to finish industrization, the only way you can avoid this is never to start industrization.

According to West safety standards, such hypaethral dangrous chemical warehouse can not exist ... but sorry it's the chemical warehouse of Tianjin HaiRui international logistics company ... then it blasted !

The developing nation still doing some dirty work to earn money, such work can make quick money ... if we all follow higher safety standards, the problem is job loss instead of blast coming in a developing nation.

Right, bro ! U had said the point here ... the COST ... everything has the cost including setup higher safety standards & rigid inspection ... some cost is the life, some cost is the competition in market & export, the cost finally will affect national economy. U got it !!!

China as the biggest developing nation & N.o2 economy, she gave the balance.

blabla (...little girl crying...) blabla

You are so much emotional to understand a thing about this. You only know justify your arguments with emotions, talking about feel good or bad, I repeat, that is your problem, not mine.

In first place, nobody knows if it was a sabotage, or a accident, less who to blame in the case of sabotage.

There are no official cause, and next to that, we can use the brain to think and not only to feel like you.

Obviously what it matters here is the SIZE of explosion, and due to that, it might slow down China economy.

It is not common explosions of that size. And we can guess about a sabotage, coldly and rationally, Yuan devluations means speed up China economy and this fact means slow down China economy. Both facts happens the same day, and speed up China economy is against USA interests.

The explosion was huge but our economy will keep on chugging. We faced any greater obstacles than this for 5000 years.

Agree to some extent, but then again I don't think it's about keeping balance per se. Since as I said before, China's record of man made/industrial accidents was even worse when China was still a poor isolated country in the 60s to early 90s .then China was not an industrial power, nor was it the worlds factory like it is today, yet it still had a far higher amount of accidents and deaths From such accidents. So I don't think it's because of rapid development per se, more like mentality of cutting corners and getting things done at all cost(even when it's not worth it) coupled with a tendency of official corruption.

You are so much emotional to understand a thing about this. You only know justify your arguments with emotions, talking about feel good or bad, I repeat, that is your problem, not mine.

But your Chinese buddies have already said they think the U.S is responsible.lool. As if the U.S will sought to slow China's economy by causing an small (by Chinese standard) explosion in a port, China has had farrrrrrrr more deadlier/bigger explosions/accidents than this one. So don't see the point of U.S just adding another small accident to this. Makes no sense AT ALL. Or maybe the U.S bribed Chinese local government officials so they can cause a massive explosion in their own seaport? :woot:

Tianhe supercomputer center is near there. Maybe shipbuilding? I hope when they find out who did this, fry his fucking family too. If it's a work of another country, must do something against them.
Similar to 9/11. Now we have the excuse to go to war like the US did.

Very well said.

Development, especially an explosive development, is not a walk in the park. Too bad we do not have the historical advantage of the developed West to outsource our problems through wars and colonization.

Besides, there was no social media during industrial revolution. Many health hazards, chemical substances and accidents and bribes must have gone unreported...

China to launch national checks on dangerous substances
August 19, 2015

China will check all dangerous substances across the whole country, the production safety watchdog said Tuesday.

The checks will continue for about half a month from next Tuesday to Sept. 10, said a notice on the website of the State Administration of Work Safety, targeting industries related to dangerous chemicals, explosives, fireworks, elevators, non-coal mines, public transportation and ports.

The emphasis on safety follows two huge explosions at a warehouse used to store dangerous chemicals in Tianjin, north China, on Aug. 12, killing at least 114 people.

Chemical plants to be relocated in Tianjin blast zone

The top official in Tianjin pledged to relocate the chemical plants in Tianjin Binhai New Area following last week's fatal blasts.

Meanwhile, all companies that produce and store dangerous chemicals are undergoing strict inspection and will be closed if any faults are found, Huang Xingguo, mayor of Tianjin, said at a news conference on Wednesday.

"As the principal leader of Tianjin, I have inescapable responsibility for the incident," said Huang, who met with the media for the first time one week after the blasts occurred.

Huang said the chemical plants in Tianjin Binhai New Area will be relocated to the Nangang Industrial Zone, 25 kilometers from the center of the new area, according to the city's development plan.
