If he had tried real peace negotiations first, then he might have succeeded.
Barlev , as the German fortification in Aquitaine were built with the idea that no territorial concession would be given. It is just history that decided otherwise. If the Egyptian army didn't attack and threw the IDF out the Suez, Israel wouldn't have negotiated an inch of the Sinai..To remind you, that she negotiated, a peace settlement with the Palestinian Authority too..What she gave in Camo David, Ariel took back and more and was left, Natanyahu walled up. The only thing that Israel respond to is force.
Sadat sacrificed a lot of Egyptians because of internal political considerations.
He might have been wise in doing so, for if he had tried to do real peace negotiations before the war,
he might have been assassinated before an agreement was signed.
Sadat, committed a lot of errors , but dislodging and pushing back the IDF is not one of them..
hahaha which lose? we kicked the Israeli as*es and destroyed their Barlef line which, according to them, was the strongest defense line in the history which needed nuclear bombs and both the American and Russian armies combined to destroy it, and guess what? we destroyed it using high power water pumps and could cross the canal
We kicked them back from the region in Sinai that was covered by the Egyptian air defense umbrella as was planned and didn't leave even one millimeter from the conquered lands till getting the entire Sinai back .. We forced them to go and cry for mama America for help otherwise they would use nuclear weapons to save their entity and existence from the Egyptian humiliation that's why the American hurried to send them a continuous air bridge of weapons in what's called Nickel Grass Operation to save their as*es. We put the Israeli noses in dirt and the so called invicible army myth was destroyed forever. When they tried to make a TV show and propaganda with the photos they got from their American masters who used the stealth blackbird jets against Egypt and were directly involved in the war regarding the gap between the Egyptian 2nd and 3rd armies, they failed to do anything. They failed to enter Suez or Ismailia before ceasefire and Sadat was ready to destroy the tiny brigade of Sharon which even had no air support. The war forced Israel and the US to commence negotiations with Egypt to get our entire land back. Israel, which is a nation built on occupation, expansion and stealing others' lands, never gives land unless it was severely humiliated
It has been 50 years at least relate facts...Sawt El Arab era of embellishment is gone.
You have to add another element to the equation.....USA and it's endless support to Israel we were fighting against the Americans and no country in the world including yours can win such a war against them except Russia .

This is SR71-A an American that flied over portsaid along the Suez Canal south to suez then the Red Sea after that entered the Main land along the River Nile to North to its bases in Europe with speed Mach 3 and altitude 25 KM and no Egyptian Air defense missile can reach that. Day 13th of October 1973.
the Russians did the same thing for the Egyptian with their MIG 25

This is an Egyptian soldier pointing at the Kilometers of an American Tank that captured near the Canal which is 220 KM which is the distance between alarish airport and the Canal.
Russian were supplying Egypt, as Americans were with Israel...It is known fact and it has nothing to do with the change of the course of the war. The tank with few mileage, was cited by Sadat as the reason he stopped the war because he cannot fight the US. If that was true and if the US were bent in entering the war, they had a plenty of reason since one of their transport plane was shut down over the Sinai.
Why ruining their epic stories about their decisive victories?
This is purely for their internal consumption, it keeps stupid people stupid, and preserves the balance of power, which is comfortable for Israel these days.
We are discussing facts.. Was it hard for you to come to terms that Egypt outsmarted you overblown ego of the super Israeli soldiers ....Wake up...Like our Indian PDF, it was the first time where an Arab army handed you @ss...
so please limit the sarcasm and contribute in a constructive way or abstain..
Buddy, really 700 soldiers!??! I am having a hard time believing that..
why its hard to believe? it is a fact, like the picture above shows it, it is just Ariel, his second in command and his driver that escape alive...nothing strange...
You are correct, but it really hurts my eyes reading such claims... Its pathetic at best.
This is not a claim , that is historical fact...Sure it was pathetic for Sharon, it was pathetic for the Israeli people, it was pathetic for those who believed in Sharon and greater Israel....Ariel Sharon knew who he had to deal...and both sides did what they had to do..
It hurts my eyes too, but I simply add
the authors of these claims to my ignore list.
I have never paid much attention to your kind ether ...But facts are facts...Israel is another middle eastern country locks stocks and barrels. In North African eyes you were never the super soldier that the world made you to be...The fact is the 8eme BB drove 4000 kms to reach the Suez and on the morning of her arrival she deconstructed Sharon Tank brigade and the 700 or so troops that were protecting her.
This was then
this is now
Not a super soldier then ..not a super soldier now...
Ugh , who cares Won or Lose in a war before like 40 years .. i really wish to see another war between Egypt and Israel .. like reaaaaaally wish
Please don't write a check that your @ss can't cash....We are discussing an event that changed the middle east , and you are asking for a rematch , just like there isn't enough wars in the region already...
I think the IDF fled across the Suez Canal and brought a lot of Armour with them.
The cowards did not want to fight the ATGs in Sinai, and instead destroyed SAMs
on the west bank. Everyone knows that SAMs vs Armour is no real fight.
Then IDF continued to flee south, and the Egyptian 3rd army disgusted with the IDF
just running in circles around them went on a hunger strike.
On the Golan front, IDF first went into a headlong retreat at a static position,
and the Syrian Army routed them by moving forward suicide tanks that exploded
within 1,000 yards of the IDF, just before the IDF could fire at them, causing great
consternation and drop of morale in the IDF, which had hoped their scheme to measure
distances to known positions on the front, would allow a lot of tank kills.
This plan thus was foiled.
The retreat on the Golan Heights took IDF back as far as Quneitra (20-30 km east of the Heights), as was claimed by the Syrian Army, but in reality IDF was even further west, when hostilities ended.
Yes, a big defeat for the IDF.
What you wrote is of no interest to me, but ILMO at the dumb @ss that gave a positive rating to your sarcasm.....
