THE YOM KIPPUR WAR : THE ALGERIAN CONTRIBUTION

If he had tried real peace negotiations first, then he might have succeeded.

Sadat sacrificed a lot of Egyptians because of internal political considerations.
He might have been wise in doing so, for if he had tried to do real peace negotiations before the war,
he might have been assassinated before an agreement was signed.
something more important which was the reputation of our armed forces after the 6 day war we needed this win

While I would not call it a win (and I know You disagree), the war certainly improved the self-confidence of Egypt.

hahaha which lose? we kicked the Israeli as*es and destroyed their Barlef line which, according to them, was the strongest defense line in the history which needed nuclear bombs and both the American and Russian armies combined to destroy it, and guess what? we destroyed it using high power water pumps and could cross the canal :D We kicked them back from the region in Sinai that was covered by the Egyptian air defense umbrella as was planned and didn't leave even one millimeter from the conquered lands till getting the entire Sinai back .. We forced them to go and cry for mama America for help otherwise they would use nuclear weapons to save their entity and existence from the Egyptian humiliation that's why the American hurried to send them a continuous air bridge of weapons in what's called Nickel Grass Operation to save their as*es. We put the Israeli noses in dirt and the so called invicible army myth was destroyed forever. When they tried to make a TV show and propaganda with the photos they got from their American masters who used the stealth blackbird jets against Egypt and were directly involved in the war regarding the gap between the Egyptian 2nd and 3rd armies, they failed to do anything. They failed to enter Suez or Ismailia before ceasefire and Sadat was ready to destroy the tiny brigade of Sharon which even had no air support. The war forced Israel and the US to commence negotiations with Egypt to get our entire land back. Israel, which is a nation built on occupation, expansion and stealing others' lands, never gives land unless it was severely humiliated :D
Then why did neither you nor Syria or any other Arab country try again? The peace treaty caused a lot of problems between Egypt and other countries in the region. You would never have signed it unless you knew war was not an option.

You have to add another element to the equation.....USA and it's endless support to Israel we were fighting against the Americans and no country in the world including yours can win such a war against them except Russia .

This is SR71-A an American that flied over portsaid along the Suez Canal south to suez then the Red Sea after that entered the Main land along the River Nile to North to its bases in Europe with speed Mach 3 and altitude 25 KM and no Egyptian Air defense missile can reach that. Day 13th of October 1973.

This is an Egyptian soldier pointing at the Kilometers of an American Tank that captured near the Canal which is 220 KM which is the distance between alarish airport and the Canal.

because some countries wanted us to fight and die while they do nothing we already lost many soldiers and our economy was not in good shape after years of fighting we got our land back and that is the job our army to protect and keep our land so we (egyptians) have what we want

you know my opinion if the US at that time attacked us it would be hard to defeat them in open grounds but they would see what it means to invade if they try to enter a big city lets not forget vitnam and also the ussr would have helped us alot

My grandfather was in Suez he was a police officer in al arbeen police station he joined the resistance ...he was there he told me that the Israelis failed to invade suez...and every day they suffer a lot of casualties as our Army and people of suez fought them in every house and every street...it is more likely as a Stalingrad more than Vitnam for Israelis.
the USSR helped us a lot but during the war the pace of American equipment to Israel is about 10 times faster than USSR with us.

It was the first war that IDF got its *** handed to it.

Amazing.

Is this part of your folk-lore already?

the 6 day war was won by israel which we have to all agree

but the suez canal war the egyptian won

Ah, I see now.

There were two wars.

Buddy, really 700 soldiers!??! I am having a hard time believing that..

You are correct, but it really hurts my eyes reading such claims... Its pathetic at best.

Think of it as a festival bonus.

This is free entertainment; if it hurts your eyes, shut them and have someone read the claims aloud to you. These opportunities are rare, and to be treasured.

Here is a piece of advice for you. NEVER quote me to give me cheesy one-liners. If you have something constructive or meaningful to say, fine, but otherwise don't waste my time.

It hurts my eyes too, but I simply add the authors of these claims to my ignore list. :-)

That is horrifying! Are you a Philistine? Have you no aesthetic sensibility? None at all? Can you not appreciate true art and true artistry when you see it?

Chief, I humbly hear you and I shall humbly obey.

In turn, a piece of advice: never utter stupid sound bites in one-liners. If you have something constructive or meaningful to say, fine, but otherwise...and all the rest of it.

The Greeks had a saying - Physician, heal thyself.

Who told you Adam was Jewish? He did not have an religion.

This thread is cute though, A swede and an Indian both discrediting Egypt even though they have good relations currently with Egyptian government. Shows you that their hatred of Muslims take them to interesting lengths to point where they bash their allies. It lets Egyptians see their true faces.

That is a pathetic mis-reading.

India has excellent relations with the Egyptian government, and individual Indians have excellent relations with individual Egyptians. I have myself served on sensitive missions to Egypt. That is not what is under discussion.

What is under discussion is another tiresome myth-making exercise by another tiresome collection of militarists of a frequently defeated nation, another exercise of clutching at straws to establish a fictitious victory. That is so completely untrue, and founded on nothing substantial. That is what I object to, and shall continue to object to, and it has nothing with your smear of Islamophobia.

How sad that you dug out Islamophobia even here!

Bullshit Pinocchio, you and him came for simple fact that you hate Muslims. I don't see the same attitude towards other threads regarding wars with non-Muslim nations.

For instance, Gepetto?

For that one statement alone, you deserve an Obama - a world-rated Prize showing your total suitability for recognition and reward.

You were not able to comprehend what i said. You can say as many awful one-liners as you want, just DON'T QUOTE me with them.

Try again for what and why? our Egyptian lands are fully liberated and we're enjoying the stunning sun and beach in Sharm el Sheikh each summer and winter :D

Yeah the Isralei sole brigade could cross the canal via the gap between the 2nd and 3rd Egyptian armies (which was discovered by the Americans and their stealth superfast and high altitude jets by this time .. American direct intervention), but they could not capture even a single city .. they couldn't enter Suez or Ismailia .. they were thanking god that a ceasefire was approved and Sadat didn't destroy the sole Israeli brigade which was decided using the plan ''Shamel''.

Regarding the USSR help, don't forget that Sadat expelled all the Soviet experts from the Egyptian army months before the war since they were very slow and stingy in supporting Egypt with weapons, specially high-tech weapons which can compete with the Israeli weapons made and provided by USA, or at least which keeps us behind them by few steps. When they asked Sadat why you did that? he said "I wanted all the world to know that the Egyptians only fought their own battle, not any other one like the others"
