Who was talking about Greece or Russia's economy? The issue was the former Soviet controlled economies like Poland's, the Czech Republics, the Baltic states, Hungary's, etc.

i would say, the precise wording is "political guidance"... having electrical goods factories or weapons factories was mostly for internal consumption, and for export to socialist bloc or to friendly nations... i know that estonia ( baltic state ) had some tourism industry during soviet times., because i had read about talinn city in the soviet-times magazine, sputnik.

eidt : "economics" is not technically related to "quality of life"... a system without money will have the best quality of life, all problems taken into account, so i sincerely don't understand your sudden connection to "soviet controlled economies".

All the rest - they are like a weathercock, have no opinion, just adapting.

"the are like weathercock, have no opinion"

i like that analogy... i didn't know of it... i will now use when appropriate.

in my view, they are the best americans, plus all the ladies :-)
:enjoy:

... but if outside people brought them promises of a happier life where they wouldn't have to do salaried jobs or run about mortgaging houses... would they still defend the usa system??
If a foreign power invaded America, no matter what they promised, the American people would string them up by their testicles. People who don't realize that, need to come here and talk to average Americans and they will understand. I do not exaggerate.

hunting?? what?? dirty wolves or something else??
No, in the picture, I was sighting it in for these critter...

Military intervention in the Crimea? What are you talking about? Russian troops are in the Crimea since 1776.
Current elite of Eastern Europe - it's either the Communists or the children of Communists. When America withdraw its troops from Europe, they will begin to talk about the horrors of the American occupation. In Eastern Europe, not so many nations with their own identity. This Hungarians (they do not like the West and trying to get out from your occupation), the Serbs - you know, what Serbs are thinking about Russian. Poles are like bitches - they love to sleep with top guy.
All the rest - they are like a weathercock, have no opinion, just adapting.
About figures of social polls is better not to write at all - it's like the propaganda department at the City Party Committee. They will give the results that they are ordered to give.
You truly live in a mythical dream world. :cuckoo: Really, I have travelled extensively in both western and eastern Europe, before and after the collapse of the Soviet Union, and the Europe you describe is one that no one I know or saw, would recognize. it's a figment of your imagination. When you make statements like America "occupies" Europe, Europeans would find that laughable. I actually worked with former East German airmen who were pretty much unanimous in their hatred for Russia and gleeful at being finally, in the NATO alliance and unified with the the Federal Republic of Germany. So was the case when I visited Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary. They actually had statues and souvenirs of Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher, along with some of Pope John Paul II. Below is just that for Reagan...

You live in the world of Western Imperialist propaganda and you even can not feel it.
Ordinary workers and peasants lived better in those days. Much better. They have a guaranteed job, housing, medical care, and education. These countries have made some progress - they had developed industry. Hell - they even had cosmonauts!
Now they are working on the lowest-paid jobs in the West, competing with blacks and Asians. They do not work at home, their factories, shipyards, factories are closed. Many of them can no longer afford to educate their children and to spend money on dentists.
Maybe the elite began to live better by robbing people, but ordinary people - workers and peasants began to live worse.

2. i generally don't like giving examples, so i will explain it simply... if we know of a simple idea which will realize a good humanity, should we keep saying "oh, it is good in theory, but it won't work"... should we sit on the fence while more active people are actually dying trying to protect this ideology... or should we use the resources we have and participate to our fullest??
I just meant that it would just too long.I'm not sure if I'll live to see that day in another 70yrs or so.

someone said on pdf ( @Hiptullha, maybe )... that socialism is also a religion... and indeed, it is the most natural and automatic of religions.
Every movement starts with a leader and few followers and then soon the leader becomes a hero and a generation later hes declared the god..and then it becomes a religion.
Hinduism and Buddhism would come close...I'm not sure about the other religions in this world.

and can we accuse the north koreans of lacking discipline?? just an example.
Sarcasm eh?
You do know what they lack....they lack the will to let their ppl live a life which is not governed by them.

let me list which lands are under attack or immediate threat...

1. ( former ) socialist people's libyan jamahiriya.

2. venezuela ( bolivarian republic of venezuela ), guided by the "psuv" movement ( united socialist party of venezuela ).

3. syria, guided by the "arab socialist baath movement"... same movement as in pre-2003 iraq.

4. democratic people's republic of korea ( north korea ), guided by

5. russia, which is socialistic, and which has a strong socialist culture.

6. people's republic of china... partcularly the "communist party of china".

7. novorus, which is supported by russia.

8. egypt, which has gone back to the great socialist hero, nasser.

9. algeria ( people's democratic republic of algeria ), guided by the "fln" movement which somewhat retains its socialist origins.

10. cuba, guided by the "communist party of cuba".

11. kazakhstan and belarus, friends of russia.

in case of russia, china, algeria and egypt... there is also nationalism which also prevents usa ( and nato ) from successfully conquering "hearts and minds" ( as bush would say )... but this nationalism within many of these citizens can be replaced with socialism ( which by itself replaces nationalism )... indeed, i suspect many russians would be happy to become part of a new soviet union... ( what say, @vostok ).

overall, socialism is not meant to be confined to individual nations... such nations are meant to be linked-up to form a socialist bloc and ultimately, a socialist humanity.
I wish someday India and Pakistan unite too...lol.
In the past I have earned brickbats for saying that.

You find these old communist monuments discarded everywhere in eastern Europe.

please be fair... toppled statues of lenin are the same scenario as that toppled statue of saddam... pulled down by a usa army tank or ifv... cheered on by the betrayers among iraqis... but was that the finality of iraq... did usa occupy "hearts and minds"... the usa military, its ally ( iran government ) and the puppet government in iraq have still not caught one of your "ace of spades", commander izzat ibrahim al douri...

and since you mention georgia, there were two side to that recent war, yes??

and what did you want the communist monuments to be replaced with?? monuments of capitalism like the offices of citibank and goldman sachs, and stock exchanges?? the same monuments which many usa citizens ( in your words, a minority ) want removed... eradicated...

i don't see what victory does the usa government and military and cia see in all this??

how can anyone with self-declared sensibility call this lady's case... ( Woman working 4 jobs to make ends meet dies while napping in car between shifts — RT USA )... as "it happens"??

just a few days ago, 69 people died in capitalist india because of hunger... because their tea planatation in the hills of darjeeling had closed down... they died while no dog goes hungry in india... and india until least year was the highest buyer of armaments in the world... where do you see any sense here??

usa government and its military and cia want to stop socialism from becoming the systems of world societies... but do you see what capitalism does to your own citizens and in other places??

please think and write.

.
Who are we kidding with this lie?
the "communist society for all humans" is the end vision of modern socialism... it is a human-wide society where governments have fallen, national militaries have been disbanded, oppressions through money, tradition or family have been abolished, and people rule themselves ( self-governance )... this has essentially been the vision from the old greek philosophers who spoke of democracy ( demokratia, demokratos )... down to christianity and islam... down to the french revolution... down to the russian revolution and after... down to the libyan jamahiriya... a continuous refinement and progression...

1) oppression through money? Heck poverty still exists and classes from high class to low class still exists and in fact has grown much more than in the past....much much more!

2) Traditional family? Seriously? Who says so who? It was just a while back we had Bush Jr. (still family business) and lets not forget all other linked politicians...

3) people rule themselves...How is that beneficial? So far what has that achieved though I would appreciate it if 1 and 2 really was abolished!

all of you... stop this nonsense about who lived where and when.
all of you... think of living in a world without borders, without visa, without military.
all of you... look at photos of earth from space. do you see the borders you see on political maps??
all of you... think of living among humanity, with a single governing socialist system, with true democracy and justice and freedoms.
Preach this to those who became multi billionaires through selling weapons...either by causing war so that the need of weapons wouldnt die or brainwashing people to think that only weapons can save them...

You also do know chemical weapons and bio weapons didnt invent themselves....Nor did media brainwashing pays for its own crappy commercials...

you know, i just let myself be naive and innocent... that is the only way i will believe in the goodness of others beyond the supposed goodness of my local ethnicity and my local religion.
good to know

there are two ways to make socialism and communism the governing system of a society... alone, using technological means... or by organizing a group and using technological means and other means... your choice, either way... and i will support you, either way.
Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely....Too much power in 1's hand is the sole danger to the world...

.
please be fair... toppled statues of lenin are the same scenario as that toppled statue of saddam... pulled down by a usa army tank or ifv...
Yes, but in eastern Europe they were toppled by the common people who took to the streets after decades of communist rule they never voted for, and brought down the entire Soviet Empire. It was not American tanks that knocked down the Berlin Wall. It was everyday people, yearning to finally be free of socialist tyranny.

Yes, if the peoples of eastern Europe so wish and so express through their democratic process. They finally have that right now so why should it be any different for them than in India?

usa government and its military and cia want to stop socialism from becoming the systems of world societies... but do you see what capitalism does to your own citizens and in other places??
Unbridled capitalism, yes, but I certainly am NOT and advocate of that and you can always find stories of how the system did not work for an individual. I can post any number of stories from any socialist country and then some! But it is capitalism, market economies, that have done one thing for certain; been the greatest engine of prosperity and catalyst for moving massive numbers of humans out of poverty in the entire written history of mankind on this planet. It is what made America, a thinly populated wilderness just two short centuries ago, become the wealthiest and most powerful country in history. And most of that, really only happened in just the last 120 years. It is why capitalist democracies have literally, tens of millions of tens of millions of immigrants who have uprooted their lives and risked everything, in order to get to places like America, Canada, Australia, Europe, in order to make a better life for themselves and their families. No argument can win against thos3e millions who have "voted with their feet".

You asked what has capitalism done? When I was born the Korean peninsula, (Where my father fought.), was then as now, divided into one communist/socialist country and one capitalist country. South Korea the year I was born, had a per capita income of less than $200 dollars a year. Today, incomes and quality of life there is about equal to western Europe, in just over two generations. What has state socialism achieved in North Korea by comparison? Well, here's the difference between capitalism and state socialism that says it all...

This sounds similar to the discussion we had way back:
kalu_miah's new world order, a road map for the future

World govt. is too early, but it may happen eventually, question is how long that will take.

What is more possible is EU type regional unions. Some examples of Multilateral regional orgs at different stages of evolution, some of which overlap with one another:

- Latin American Union (UNASUR)
Union of South American Nations - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- ASEAN
Association of Southeast Asian Nations - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- ASEAN + 2 (Japan + Korean peninsula)
Geopolitics of ASEAN+ region
- China + Taiwan
- D-8 countries

Developing 8 Countries - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- ECO
Economic Cooperation Organization - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- Arab League
Arab League - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- African Union
African Union - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- SAARC is dead
So only hope for Nepal and Bhutan is a future independence of North East states of India, which will make these 3 entities part of ASEAN
- Russia may eventually join EU and NATO, a few decades after end of Putin era
- Fortress Europa (EU+North America+Oceania+Russia)

Current Military alliances:
List of military alliances - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- NATO + global partners (MNNA, major non-NATO allies of the US)
- China + North Korea + Pakistan
- SCO anti terrorism alliance

What are possible future military alliances?

I wish someday India and Pakistan unite too...lol.
In the past I have earned brickbats for saying that.

but it is a most noble and sensible wish... the partition was arranged by usa and britain for their need of not having yet another place influenced by socialism... nehru and jinnah were very intelligent people... but their egos were supremely used by the enemy.

for years, there has been a practical reunification solution... the name of the man doesn't matter... he spoke from a neutral perspective... and like me, he is a man of many words... :D

the solution to the problem of india, pakistan, kashmir... "greater india"... or some other unification name...

from... ( Al Gaddafi speaks - English / Kashmir: The Definitive Solution ), i quote...
"Kashmir, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, the Maldives, Sri Lanka and India will all be subsumed in a future giant entity of the Indian subcontinent along the lines of the European Union, African Union, and ASEAN."

"Each one of the giant entities that will replace the nation states and make up the new world, will have its single army, security structures, single market, single currency, single central bank, and most importantly a single negotiating position with the other similar giant entities."

and that was from 2002... don't miss the solutions on the site for israel-palestine ( called isratine, white book ) and for korea... there are many other great speeches and essays.

for more recent solution to kashmir...

Kashmir should be independent state: Gaddafi - Rediff.com India News
Is Gaddafi’s U.N. speech winning him a fan base in Kashmir? | India Insight

all the above may be relatively old writings, but they do say that there have been solutions but others did not accept them but preferred to continue fighting like five year old kids... the age of 13 is when nature changes us to adult, but many in the world have missed adulthood... :-)

You sound like one. :-)

thank you.

Every movement starts with a leader and few followers and then soon the leader becomes a hero and a generation later hes declared the god..and then it becomes a religion.

that reminds me of the best series of science fiction books ever written... the "dune" series, written by frank herbert from the 1960's to 1980's... they have the islami mythology of the "second coming" of jesus christ, who was prophesized to appear again as the "imaam mahdi".

@Multani had mentioned this aspect once but i want to go beyond old mysticisms...

believe me, the language and the imagery of the "dune" series is so very simple, sophisticated, so understanding of human emotions and politics, with naturality of technological progress... you can easily think of these books as one of human history's best epics... i do not exaggerate... if you must pick up the first book, "dune", you will see it... actually, this series is the more serious inspiration for the later silly "star wars" films.

Or lets just build over it...

absolutely... we must build a by-pass road over the old religions. :-) the cultural aspects like music, poetry and reasonable dresses can be retained... but that which divides, is unjust, bores and makes us go :hitwall: must be removed.

Sarcasm eh?
You do know what they lack....they lack the will to let their ppl live a life which is not governed by them.

actually, the north korean administration did very well to not allow western ( and allied ) tv channels and jam the cia propaganda radio stations ( radio free asia, radio liberty, bbc world service ) because the foolish among the north koreans would have been crazy about drugs and rock-n-roll, and would have become used by cia and mi6 to destabilize their society and effect regime-change... just like what happened in east germany, tiananmen square, soviet union, afghanistan, iraq, venezeula and libyan jamahiriya.

just yesterday, another of the south korea propaganda methods against the north was effected... releasing 200,000 balloons attached with anti-socialist leaflets, let loose across the border... the south, i think, uses another method too... loudspeakers shouting across the border.

the below people are the kind of drones i see in bangloare... fake-book types, whatsapp types... disconnected with others immediately and in the world... spending their life in mindless pursuits... rude and foolish...

@Desertfalcon, the above is also one reply to you... i will reply in more detail a bit later.

I've no idea how to go about it.

you people must allow me to guide first... we discuss here or elsewhere, gathering more people, all nationalities welcome... all decisions are by common sense and consensus ( real democracy and equality )... we can meet ( in bangalore, say ), all nationalities welcome... we discuss and use our talents for this common and sensible cause... we act... that is how revolutionary changes have always happened, a most natural way... :-)

Don't get me curious now...who 're you and why are you on this forum???

i am just one of the participants in a specific form of socialism, the "world jamahiriya" movement, where people from many nations ( east to west ) have gathered 2011 onwards, working in groups or individually, working to bring jamahiriya "direct democracy" to at least a good number of humanity via peaceful means, maybe within the next five years or so... i just happen to have a bit more capabilities than the others, in many fields ( computing, agriculture etc )... i am not being vain, just sincere... :-)

this forum is quite a unique place, you will agree... the members are international, agreeing on some things, fighting on other things, not only on military issues but also on others... not many forums like this... so i thought i can turn these international members to a good cause... a unified humanity... a good place for that, i think.

also, some years back when i was a non-member, i saw a post by @pak-marine about pakistani socialism in the 1970-1990 period... he will remember that now, i think... i read that post and thought... there was real direct-action before in other parts of south asia and there can be that still... so i joined this year.

@Akheilos, i am confused by your hostility... was my post not addressing your very concerns?? why does your angry post appear to me to be a case of "kahin pe nigaahen, kahin pe nishaana"?? :-)

Fine, but as you are actually defending North Korea, one of the most well documented, brutal regimes on earth with one of the worst human rights records on the planet, I fear you have as we say in America, "drunk the kool-aid". North Korea's brutality, her atrocities, are a fact, not western propaganda, but virtually universal knowledge among the community of nations, western, eastern, capitalist, socialist, you name them...

World Report 2012: North Korea | Human Rights Watch

DisplayNews

North Korea: The UN must respond to massive human rights violations in the DPRK. Oral statement to the 26th session of the UN Human Rights Council | Amnesty International

North Korean prison camp survivors tell of executions, hard labour, forced abortions and rape | Daily Mail Online

North Korea: Economic System Built on Forced Labor | Human Rights Watch

As much as I may find people constantly texting to be annoying, come on! How does that compare to totalitarian torture, massive famine, slave labour?

But let me guess, all of my links are just proof of "Lies and Western propaganda", yes? All the eyewitness accounts of conditions in that socialist enclave are just made up or some sort of capitalist clandestine plot.

He's a pretty good liar, I guess! :azn:

.
@jamahir I want more local/provincial govt and less centralization of power.
Let people decide for themselves how they want to be governed.

I understand you consider nationalism as divisive, something that takes a lot of resource (and weapons) to maintain. I agree. At citizen level, am less nationalist, and feel more global citizen.
But I dont want to be ruled by a world govt. I want to be ruled by local govt (say Govt of London if I am living in london).

.
From my perspective this one govt. thingy is dangerous for humanity because of following reasons...

1- One world government = one type world.
One govt system will come with common languages, currency, banking and monetary system, regime, education and health care... Common languages will be taught in the schools along with your own language & history & culture but your grandchildren may not speak it... your culture will start dying slowly and steadily. At the end of day just after a couple of generations we will have one-type human being who speaks some common languages, think the same way with others. Look at the young boys and girls around you, celebrities, fashion and daily trends making them so damn similar...It's already happening...

2- Danger of no borders.
Freedom of trade and freedom of movement will cause fights; People will move anywhere they want to live and this situation will disturb many of locals...Think about it; EU countries come from similar common culture, to be an union is relatively easier for them ( except imperlialism and colonism ) but is it the same for Israelis and Arabs, Turks and Greeks, Pakistanis and Indıans or Chienese? What about Korean bros? Sorry but I wouldn't live with more than half of the world.. This will cause problems and local unrests.

3- Who will run?
Ok we have a new-born govt. And represantatives from countries choose who will lead us, looks similar yeah? (UN)... You think that Citizen of World thing will happen in one night? Which country will have more vote right? Its up to economic, military power or population? Or principle of equality?? Will US accept to have very same vote power with Brundi? I don't think so...

4- No rivalry no success babe...
As an example, The Soviet - Usa arm race and European imperialism/colonism ambitiouses led the current tech to present day and then the other players included then it continued developing over again and again. Even today countries trying to be the best in some specific fields, be it military, medical & health, daily use techs like smartphones and tablets, transportation, space tech etc... and this rivalry boosts the tecnological development speed of our kind.

Cultures, nations, countries, languages are the wealth of our world, our diifrencies are what make us human, Dutch, Turk, Arap, French, Mexican... We have to keep it to the end
I agree with this. Even within EU there are many rivalries and powerful countries prefer to dominate over others and also people within power countries don't prefer to have people from less powerful countries within their borders. Take UK for example, there's a huge opposition to flocking of eastern Europeans to the UK and for that reason UK is talking of pulling countries out. I think this is a result of inequality of countries in the union. If the EU excluded the Easter Europe then the union would be much more successful.

I think globalisation will eventually put an end to the idea of cultural/linguistic/religious identity and it's inevitable so I don't see it as a big problem. If the World is governed as one body then the subjects in the area has to be governed on an individual basis. Also do you expect relatively wealthy/powerful countries to dissolve their power among other nations that are behind them? If not then those same powerful countries will dominate over others and that will be similar to imperialism.

Regarding rivalry, you can also transform it on a nation-level to an individual-level so that each individual will rival with another and try his/her best to outperform another. I think the most successful models for this proposed system comes from USA, Canada and Australia but sadly segregation and injustice are still alive in them.

Overall I see it as an excellent idea but the human race has to evolve from the current tribal mindset in order for it to be successful. By the way I hope that with upcoming space colonisation there will be a radical change on human mindset on how we perceive our identity.

This video is directly related to the topic.

Too much of everything turns into evil....even free will...

We are given free will to choose our paths...but when we choose the wrong path and declare it freedom it is plain stupidity IMO...
I never opposed to being contributing members...

When did I oppose this bit "slaves of unjust traditions and war-mongering governments to continue for another 500 years??" all I said is it is far from reality...

we must not allow a representative form of government where some "career politician" will patronizingly and remotely take decisions "on our behalf" but decisions which we don't want at all.
