What's new

The West is copying from China, China's impact on European countries

In Greece we have cave men from around 3.5 million years ago.

But glad i could teach you how ancient we are.

Do you still eat cats and dogs?

3.5 million years ago? They must be pre Neanderthal. You are getting ridiculous. But again, why isn’t the Greeks included as one of the four cradles of civilization? Do you know why?

It was Homo heidelbergensis. They even settled Crete which means they were sea faring. Super interesting.

There were no cradles of civilisation. Thats an outdated 20th century concept. Civilisation did arise evrywhere.

China was never rich and poweful. It had a rich small imperial family and millions of slaves. It also was stagnant without any development.

Oh. Read some history books and civilize yourself.

It was indeed difficult to compare who was richer, especially when there was no official exchange rate between empires at that time.

But at least, China, since Spring - Autumn era, has had tons of statistics, which were done and recorded periodically over time by scientific, reliable methods (from population to harvest to yearly revenue). Does any European country boast these achievements until around 17 - 18th century. If not, all your "richness" were just imaginary works by later historians.

Rome and also Byzantine Empire defintly surpassed China in all aspects.

Not in economy at least
China's feudal society gets to its peak in Tang Dynasty, which accounted for 58% of the world GDP, the empire is very rich and powerful comparing with other countries of the same time. In the western world the second Eastern Roman Empire accounted for only 9% of the world GDP.

Then why when Marco Polo came back to Venize, people did not believe him when he described how rich and great China Yuan was (they even called him "Mr.Million", as per "China history" by Nguyen Hien Le). It seems the greatness and the rich of China was un-imaginable to Roman people at that time.

Of course, that was during the time of Yuan dynasty, but Tang and Song dynasties were even more developed and richer than Yuan.

Because its doubtful that he even reached China. His phantasy stories were bit too much.

Yes, he was not mentioned in any Chinese historical book.

However, the statistics (like yearly revenue of imperial court) can still be verified. They were well-recorded.

The imperial courts in Constantinople or Rome were equal to that

I am a little bit impressed that someone in US knows the word "geography", Let me help you with other difficult things. Spread of farming from Southwest Asia to Europe, between 9600 and 4000 BCE

This map does not figure North and South America where cultivation developed independently about 9000 to 10,000 years ago, shortly after the fertile crescent, or around the same time.
