Israeli attack on USS Liberty is a proof in itself-
Its hard to believe Israeli reconnaissance plane an hour before the attack did not see the US Flag waving on the ship-

“At the time of the attack, the USS Liberty was flying the American flag and its identification was clearly indicated in large white letters and numerals on its hull. … Experience demonstrates that both the flag and the identification number of the vessel were readily visible from the air…. Accordingly, there is every reason to believe that the USS Liberty was identified, or at least her nationality determined, by Israeli aircraft approximately one hour before the attack. … The subsequent attack by the torpedo boats, substantially after the vessel was or should have been identified by Israeli military forces, manifests the same reckless disregard for human life

Unless you agree that israel navy was an unprofessional force that did not identify the target before it attacked- Till then its really hard to believe it was an accident-

At least two rescue attempts were launched from U.S. aircraft carriers nearby but were recalled, according to the Liberty's senior Naval Security Group officer

Do you have any proof that the attack on the Liberty was aimed to frame the Egyptians and worsen their relations with the US - which were already at their lowest level in 1967? Or is it another conspiracy theory that you fantasized about and got nothing with reality?

I don't know or care about KSA or Mecca or Bahrain for that matter. But, I am sorry, I am not convinced that it was a case of mistaken identity. It may have been a mistake during the first attack but the repeated attacks show clear intent. I think it was very deliberate, Maybe, the Americans behaved in a cowardly manner by not responding suitably to the incident, maybe they deserved to get hammered the way they did for poking around where they have no business to be. But the incident shows Israel in an extremely poor light. No excuses please.

How about fooling the world to believe that Egyptians attacked the ship?- and an imminent American retaliation on the Arabs?-
If it was not for the presence of Russian reconnaissance ship in the area- All would have gone according to the American-Israeli plan-

1) Egyptian army was defeated by that time anyway.
2) There were too muich traces and evidences: marked planes, open conversations in Hebrew (by the way, there are plenty fluent Arab speakers in Israel, so if we wanted to arrange conversation in Arabic we could easily do that), NATO standard bullet traces, torpedo trace and so on.
3) There was no any Russian ship there. What really happaned there is that after realizing that the ship they attacked was not Egyptian, Israelis at first thought it could be Russian.

I don't know or care about KSA or Mecca or Bahrain for that matter. But, I am sorry, I am not convinced that it was a case of mistaken identity. However, I opened a thread about the assassination of Zia who was Pakistan's leader and nobody really give a dam. No one investigate it or care about it in Pakistan or in the Muslim world. Like in this case they all busy with inventing conspiracy theories and all kind of fantasies.

there is some conspiracy theory going around that israel and america made a plan and wanted it to look like egypt attacked the ship so USA could join the war in israels side! but the soviet recognision ship ruined it!

Spreading conspiracies does not cost anything, we need to be very careful in adopting one of them with no bases or proofs.

Usually the simple answer is the correct one, in this case that it was a mistake.

Even more shocking stuff is the world knows the depth of friendship btw USA-ISRAEL yet these goons are digging 4 decade history to find a hitch in this friendship...had it not been a case of mistaken identity all sensible persons can imagine the effects of it to israel...what else can we say about these kids who are trying hard to site a reason to break this friendship...one thing can be said keep on trying...
