What's new

The US is giving Vietnam $18 million for patrol boats to counter China

But $18m is not enough for fast food noodles.

Indeed the US believes that the Viets are even cheaper than the Ukrainans.

. . . .
Wouldn't be either.. and as a tax paying American citizen, I would have absolutely no issue with it at all.

Based on article comments the majority of Americans seem pretty pissed off.

I agree this is pocket change compare to Israël.

I think you are truly racist against mixed race people. And China is too important to the world economically as compared to Vietnam. The world will not throw China under the bus on behalf of Vietnam and the Philippines. You have to be pragmatic also.

Its hard for half breeds to support two countries. They choose the one thats most successful in terms of socioeconomic and looks down on the other because its poorer. It's a sign of inferiority complex. Are you ashame of your Vietnamese heritage?

Don't worry the economy is rising fast and a regime change is inevitable it will gradually change. By that time your opinion of Vietnam will change;)

You're as dumb as my pet dog. You really need to re-read all your post Mr. Vtnsucks.

You wanna come to Edmonton Alberta and tell that to my face? Internet tough boy.

Waste of time if you try to get to him, his head is pretty hard, these type of people only learn when they crash and burn. This guy has so much ethnic mix and at the same time so little life experience, let alone life experience in either Vietnam or China that actually doesn't even have a clue about any of those countries. As he said before, he likes China because it has a bigger role in the world and because their flag is prettier. That already tells you enough about how sophisticated his thinking is.

By the way, my 25 years in USA were 25 years as an adult, a bit different than being 29 years old now.

No doubt, this guy is 29 years old and has a lot of growing up to do. But it's unfortunately that he is too insecure about his other half (Vietnamese) that he is afraid step up and grow up as a man. I've seen many Viet/Chinese mix that are criminals because they simply can't handle reality.

You are right that it is hard to support and have loyalty to two countries at a time. Not ashamed of Vietnamese heritage as a First Generation American, but if I have to choose one over the other it would be China. You think you must be lucky to not be born mixed just like me right? It is unfortunate that eternal tensions of conflict exist between China and Vietnam, so I have to pick a side. Sometimes, I propose that they merged into one country to end this Warring States mode.

Well my friend, Haven't seen the comments, but that is of course but a sampling. Even if that was the case, and hard data (not just comments on an article) backed that up, notice that I said "I" not "we" in my comment. it is my opinion. I don't, and would never try to speak for anyone else.

I find that's done quite frequently here unfortunately.
