The True Face of the Iranian Regime

Our true identity is being Iranian. Everything else comes after. In my opinion, If someone considers their religious belief as their main identity over their nationality/race, then they're not a real Iranian as far as I am concerned. The nations which use religion as their main source of identity are those which have little culture. We are Iranians. The inheritors of one the greatest culture on the planet.

So @Madali bro, remember, you're an Iranian before anything else. Whether you follow X religion over Y, it does not mean you're less of an Iranian.

Having said that, I think one of the problems with Iran today is precisely that religion and one religion at that plays such a large monopoly over politics etc. Iran needs be an independent nation, our sole identity needs to be our Iranian culture and any poisonous outside influence should be countered with our own culture. And most importantly, religion need to be separated from our politics etc. If not, then Iran will never reach its full potential. This man was the one who made Iran great, do you think he did not consider himself an Iranian before anything else?:

Guys, I'm not offended.

It's great to know we have a Sunni Iranian here, I really like your opinions, mostly of course. Except the fact that you are a fan of Ahmadinejad. :D

Our true identity is being Iranian. Everything else comes after. The only religion which really may have a part of our identity as race would be Zoroastrianism, which is an Iranian religion and the oldest monotheistic faith in the world. People seem to forget, alot of these other religions which came after, basically just took the concept of Zoroastrianism and used it in their own faiths. I am talking about concepts such as heaven and hell, judgement day, evil entity etc etc.

Anyway, If someone considers their religious belief as their main identity over their nationality/race, then they're not a real Iranian as far as I am concerned. The nations which use religion as their main source of identity are those which have little culture. We are Iranians. The inheritors of one the greatest culture on the planet.

On personal level, I agree with most of what you said. But at the same time, I know that in any vibrant and progressive society you will have people with wildly differing opinions about just anything. I think we need to be mindful of that fact, looking into the future. All Iranians need to feel that they're equal stakeholders in their country, and not only are they accepted but their views and contributions are important and welcomed by the rest of the society.

The Iranian culture has the gravitational pull of the sun.... It's very hard to escape it, even for those who want to.... all we have to do is be a little nicer and more considerate to each other.... The rest will quickly fall into place...

" Moreover you're a Sunni. Please respect to Shia believes. "

And I didn't disrespect him.
Even though i shouldn't intrude, but that was somewhat offensive. Anyway, in future do not get into sectarian debates, or even mention them, simply divides us, i understand you were debating with an Iranian member, but still. I hope you understand and get my point.
Now that i have barged in, on topic: um, quite clear that Iran is in a complicated situation, predicting anything would be unfair, again quite complicated situation, some playing with fire. Let's wait and see.

I just saw this just now, and I have to say it was insensitive and indirectly offensive for you to say it. You should really think hard about this, in order to learn.

Exactly bro, I 100% believe in freedom of religion and freedom of thought. That's why I say, our true identity is being Iranian. It does not matter what religion the person believes, because we see each other as Iranians first and foremost. Sadly, religion plays a monopoly over Iranian politics today and this is not a healthy situation. I think people should have the freedom to believe in whatever faith they want, but that faith should not be used to run the country and influence politics, science etc.

Guys, I'm not offended.

Even if you are not offended on individual level, you should immediately point out the undesirability of such insensitive behavior. If you can't do it, tag me. The reason for this is very simple. We can not allow Iran to become the next civil warring nation over such trivial and ridiculous matters. Such insensitive behavior must be countered in its zygotic stage. Shrugging it, will have far reaching consequences for Iran's future.

We must grow together towards a mature future Iranian society in which Iranians irrespective of being Usuli Shia or Akhbari Shia or Sunni or Sufi or Jew or Christian or Zoroastrian can go about without having to worry about any such insensitivities being hurled at them. In other countries, people are being slaughtered over such matters on the streets. And it all began quite like this, a few decades ago (or centuries).

The only intolerance in Iran should be for intolerance itself. Otherwise we also will sleepwalk to our doom as other Muslim nations have already.

WOW... words of wisdom... couldn't agree more.... Thank you!

We need to have a code of ethics when dealing with each other... and we all need to actively practice it.

Thank God most of Iranians follow the same faith (Shia), so having civil war in Iran is almost inconceivable.
Please edit your post, uncalled for, very negative.

Well said, and commendable indeed.

You get a negative rating for that, 2800 joon since you seem not having learnt the lesson every body else is teaching you here. You see, such behavior is not appreciated in Iran. In fact if you look around yourself in Iran, you see that people have different religious feelings. Even among the Shias themselves. And you appear not having travelled throughout Iran. You should really do that. You will learn that Iran is not only Tehran and Shomal. There are many other Iranians living in Khuzestan, Sistan Balochestan, Kordestan and Fars and Hormozgan etc.

Please try to learn that these 13th century mindset is not welcome anymore in Iran.

While there is some truth that is a stupid (and probably offensive)statement. Following the same faith only reduces the chances of a civil war not ending it

.
@Daneshmand

Did I insult anyone? Why negative rating? When vast majority of Iranians follow the same faith (Shia) having civil war is not much probable.

Because you said another highly insensitive thing. At this stage with us talking on this forum, it does not matter whether Iran will go into civil war or not. What matters here is that you learn that such behavior is not appreciated in 21st century.
