The Most Powerful Militaries In The Middle East

Let's be honest, for political reasons the previous two generations of Saudis were kept passive and docile, and when push came to shove and with the country opening up to the world and Saudis travelling the world in droves and the internet all of these created a different generation than the ones before, which mine and your generation, I dare say it maybe the only decent generation to come out of this land in a long long time.

So yeah, I really don't care about what we were 10 minutes ago, and the only pride that I wear is the ones I create with my own hands, and this may sound cocky from me but in 24 years I think I created enough pride for myself to last me my whole life career and personal wise however I am still extremely not satisfied with myself and feel a dire need to continuously improve myself and become a better person as time goes on. And this is the same mentality I have for my country which is part of my identity. Improving is a source of pride yes but improving is not a wholly positive thing but a negative eraser kind of thing.

We still need to improve much more, and that on many fronts, from civilian to military, from scientific to bureaucracy everything needs to improve to a higher standard, it is improving true, but it is not enough yet. And I am not impatient to want change to happen overnight. But I do like to see change happen. And pretty much this is why I joined this forum anyways, to let people know that change is happening in KSA. They either accept it and be happy for us, or they can be mad, either way it doesn't stop the fact that we are the first in the world in regards to scientific output growth, and became the first in the Arab world surpassing Egypt recently in yearly scientific output, but let's be honest here, the Arab world is like the 3rd league and we are still way off playing in the premier league, but if you and me continue to do research and publish it in our country's organizations' names our children may be able to compete in a higher league than us. We are the generation responsible for planting the trees in which our grandchildren will sit in its shade, sort to speak.

We don't disagree. I don't recall that we ever disagreed on major topics. I have been as critical of KSA as anybody here when I thought that we deserved criticism but there is a difference between the current mostly POLITICAL reality and the historical one. That's where most of our resident ignorant and foreign trolls come into the picture and that's where I come in handy to shatter their nonsense before they barely start. You know perfectly well how it is on PDF. Very few people are really knowledgeable about the topics they discuss and even less so are willing to rethink their positions. Often positions based on nothing more than nonsense or a few articles on BBC.

I have written essay long (almost) posts about the improvements I want to see happen in KSA before I die and the Arab world as a whole as the potential is enormous. On the political, economic, scientific, social, JUDICIAL etc. front. I am also a person driven by continuous improvement be it academic or personal. Hence I demand the same from KSA as a country and people. Yes, there is a lot of things that annoy me and which I do not agree with but I won't tolerate/leave the trolling that I described the nature of without notice. Most of the time. It depends if I bother to shatter the same topic for 101th time in a row.

I hope you get me now. We are a bit off topic now though.

Not really no. The first sign of power is admitting weakness. Those who admit to have weaknesses are the most powerful of all, simply because it entails that they do work on their weaknesses. And our military do have many weaknesses, and I am especially glad that Saudi military journals are now open in admitting these weaknesses and not portray itself as the epitome of the strongest force on the earth, instead they admit their short comings quite a lot in Saudi military journals that you can find in military bases and hospitals (My favourite read in the Doctor's on call room in the military hospitals actually). It means that we are working on our weaknesses. It means that we admit our short comings, and it means that we are improving.

So we weren't really off topic were we?

I don't know anyone who has claimed that KSA is the "epitome of the strongest force on earth". No ME country is even close to that. The US can only claim such a title but that would be pretty over the top too some would say.

Well, that's evident from the events in the past 20 years. If our military was content we would have continued in the same fashion like in the 1980's and most of the 1990's. Obviously the end goal is a strong indigenous military industry and we are currently in the infancy but at least we have started.

We were a bit off-topic in the sense of the topic of the thread. Or maybe not.

Actually some ME country keeps claiming that almost on a daily basis, something that I actually find hilarious.

:Equipment wise
1. Turkey
2. Iran
3. Egypt
4. S. Arabia (Can be second after Turkey, but Iran is still more powerful missile wise)

It can also be
1. Iran
2. Egypt
3.Turkey
4. KSA
Due to war experience

Why add Usrael, it is a US proxy, or better yet a (protected) state, with an unconditional defense pact. So we might as well rank the US as a middle eastern military state.
To be fair we should only name the genuine independent middle eastern countries.

Saudi Arabia — up 300% in a decade — according to IHS Jane's.

We have analyzed each country to rank the most powerful militaries in the Middle East. This ranking does not count foreign powers like the US or their support, though we have noted important alliances. After looking over state militaries, we also profiled (but did not rank) some of the increasingly powerful non-state military groups.

Deal with it, Israel is stronger than Turkey.

I searched the rest of the site and there was an article on it about the 11 most powerful militaries in the world. Turkey is #8 on the list, and Israel #11. Anyway , unless there is a real war between these countries, we can never be sure about who is stronger.

ps. i cannot post the link because because of forum rules

World Fire Power is the most BS military ranking the world has ever seen.

such comparing lists seem mostly nonsense. they mention equipments and numbers, but they dont take into account the domestic military industry to support a war, which means that whenever there is a war, foreign interference is always going to play a role since no country in the ME, incl. Israel, have the capability to go on without any foreign assistance. Not until ME countries have a sufficient independent military industry, such comparisons are only useful for short term wars. imo, i only see Israel, Turkey, and Iran (not sure about Egypt's industry) having the capability to draw it till a medium/long term war until foreign interference is needed to replenish whatever is needed that can't be supplied from domestic sources.

Two first ones are Israel and Turkey, and they are much ahead of the rest.
To compare Israel and Turkey, Turkey has stronger navy, more human resources, and bigger economy, and also having strategic depth. On the other hand, Israel has nukes, stronger air force, and high quality trainings. Overall, Israel is stronger with nukes, and Turkey is stronger without nukes.
The second league are Iran, Egypt, and KSA. Iran is lagging behind in air force, Egypt has shortage of money, and weak economy and civil unrests, and KSA lacks human resources, quality trainings, and also lacks basic domestic industries in case of a prolonged war. In a prolonged war, Iran would stand on top of this league, then Egypt, followed by KSA.

For once I kinda agree with you.
Although I believe Israel is also stronger than Turkey, without nukes.
