Let's be honest, for political reasons the previous two generations of Saudis were kept passive and docile, and when push came to shove and with the country opening up to the world and Saudis travelling the world in droves and the internet all of these created a different generation than the ones before, which mine and your generation, I dare say it maybe the only decent generation to come out of this land in a long long time.
So yeah, I really don't care about what we were 10 minutes ago, and the only pride that I wear is the ones I create with my own hands, and this may sound cocky from me but in 24 years I think I created enough pride for myself to last me my whole life career and personal wise however I am still extremely not satisfied with myself and feel a dire need to continuously improve myself and become a better person as time goes on. And this is the same mentality I have for my country which is part of my identity. Improving is a source of pride yes but improving is not a wholly positive thing but a negative eraser kind of thing.
We still need to improve much more, and that on many fronts, from civilian to military, from scientific to bureaucracy everything needs to improve to a higher standard, it is improving true, but it is not enough yet. And I am not impatient to want change to happen overnight. But I do like to see change happen. And pretty much this is why I joined this forum anyways, to let people know that change is happening in KSA. They either accept it and be happy for us, or they can be mad, either way it doesn't stop the fact that we are the first in the world in regards to scientific output growth, and became the first in the Arab world surpassing Egypt recently in yearly scientific output, but let's be honest here, the Arab world is like the 3rd league and we are still way off playing in the premier league, but if you and me continue to do research and publish it in our country's organizations' names our children may be able to compete in a higher league than us. We are the generation responsible for planting the trees in which our grandchildren will sit in its shade, sort to speak.
We don't disagree. I don't recall that we ever disagreed on major topics. I have been as critical of KSA as anybody here when I thought that we deserved criticism but there is a difference between the current mostly POLITICAL reality and the historical one. That's where most of our resident ignorant and foreign trolls come into the picture and that's where I come in handy to shatter their nonsense before they barely start. You know perfectly well how it is on PDF. Very few people are really knowledgeable about the topics they discuss and even less so are willing to rethink their positions. Often positions based on nothing more than nonsense or a few articles on BBC.
I have written essay long (almost) posts about the improvements I want to see happen in KSA before I die and the Arab world as a whole as the potential is enormous. On the political, economic, scientific, social, JUDICIAL etc. front. I am also a person driven by continuous improvement be it academic or personal. Hence I demand the same from KSA as a country and people. Yes, there is a lot of things that annoy me and which I do not agree with but I won't tolerate/leave the trolling that I described the nature of without notice. Most of the time. It depends if I bother to shatter the same topic for 101th time in a row.
I hope you get me now. We are a bit off topic now though.
