With the Kashmir issue, what do the people of Kashmir want?

Do they want to side with India? or Pakistan? or Independence? Has there ever been a consensus from the people of kashmir?

they want to be with pakistan

pakistans flag was raised in sri nagar

Has there been an actual consensus of the people besides either side giving their opinions?

GOP had asked GOI for it, and for it to be sponsored by the UN, but India denied because she knows she would lose & IOK would be returned back to Pakistan.

There hasn't been a consensus but let's say Kashmir's population is divided in 70% Muslim and 30% Hindus/Sikhs/Buddhists.

Obviously 30% minorities will vote to stay with India.

And out of 70% Let's say maybe half of them want to stay with India and half of them want to be independent or join Pakistan.

So, overall 50-55% would want to stay with India, 30-35% wanting independence and maybe 15-20% wanting to join Pakistan.

That's just how I think Muslims' votes will be divided if there ever will be a referendum.

Stop talking out of your a*se mate. For a referendum to take place both countries needed to withdraw from Kashmir and Pakistan failed to do so and there have been permanent demographic changes and Hindu Pundits were chased away from the valley [Around 400,000].

India dont want consensus Because they know kashmiri Muslims will side with Pakistan, kashmiris Want freedom from Indian Occupation.

by saying ALL minorities will stay with india, then pakistan can also say ALL Muslims will stay with pakistan

ur logic is flawed, junior

Loool! I can give you 1000s reasons why minorities won't like either an independent Kashmir or Accession to Pakistan, and for Muslims half of them would definitely want independence. And half of the votes divided between India and Pakistan.

So the first thing is we need to see what the people want.

For this we need a broad based consensus with question like, Would you prefer to join Pakistan/India/independence. would you be willing to divide Kashmir to join Pakistan.

If the Muslim people of Kashmir adamantly don't want to be with India under any circumstances, its never going work out. Its like a girlfriend, that keeps calling you after you broke up. Calling isn't going to help mend anything, if you adamantly don't want to be with her.

it doesn't matter what the kashmiris want. if they want to be with pakistan, goi should help them move there and vacate kashmir. the land will remain indian

uhmm No! GOI has no rights over the land. The land belongs to the lawful owners.

kashmir valley is the only one which has separatist sentiments. jammuites are one of the most patriotic indians and so are ladakhis.
