The Indian Rafale: Why Pakistan Should Celebrate! -Opinion (ALL Rafale posts here please)

I always apprecite such additionz as it moves our planners ( sutti payee qaum) to move and get a counter...which eventually helps in dealing with all the other threats apart from india as well

Great decision for them and it is a great jet. Just not sure how the deal will go for them as most of the IAF deals have had ups and downs over the last 3 decades....worked with a BAE Systems engineer on the Hawk 100s so heard his point of views when the Indian government would order jets for their air force.
finally india has ordered lots of hawk trainers

Rafale is a good multirole fighter but not a superiority fighter.
it's max ceiling is 50,000 feet and 1.8 mac which are the nighmare to compete a superiority fighter. with very very hafty price.

PAF has most proven multirole fighter f16 supported with stringless daily improving JF17.

Now PAF needs a superiority fighter. Su 35/37 fits excellently. and its most agile fighter in the world which is causing a real headach to F35 etc. Many articles indicates the challenges su 35 producing for west. max 2.25 mac 60,000 feet ceiling. good avionics infra red long range bvr etc. Except F22 raptor no other F15 F18 eurofighter can face su 35 as superiority fighter.

We should go for it with full zeel.

russian aircraft are harder to maintain
paf will learn it the hard way when they shell $80 million for Su-35

Without any doubt Rafale will provide an Iron Strong Punching capability to IAF. Now its with PAF that how they respond to it. Time is short and running out at fast pace.

Here is my opinion!

A) The selection of Rafale, after many painstaking years was to replace the Migs of India, which are in hundreds. Out of 120 aircraft, only 36 are being procured, which defeats the purpose of the induction.

B) The French Dassault are notoriously expensive. The "cost through life" of their bird is 6 times any of its contemporary, ensuring that budget will always be short, and always be tight.

C) Till the time the aircraft capabilities are fully realized, it would already be fully neutralized by competitive procurements in the region.

D) Once Indian pilots fly the Rafale, the interest in TEJAS will diminish further, creating an internal battle of buying foreign versus building local, hence jeopardizing both programs.

E) The Rafale aircraft purchase kills the "make in india" dream of the Modi government, which shows that this decision is a panic decision to stop gap fill the entirely low serviceability rates of IAF, combined with shrinking squadron numbers and lack of pilots.

F) The Rafale deal essentially closes the door in Indian Air Force for BAE Systems Eurofighter Typhoon, and BAE Systems ES products. This will re-open the opportunity of other countries to access the platform/avionics from these sources.

G) Rafale program is essentially a lame duck political approach, which exemplifies the military policy of the state being run by civilians, never coming up to the expectation of uniformed professionals.

H) Rafale deal is highly suspected of big bribes from the French to all levels within the Indian administration, MOD, and IAF, which will eventually come out and further derail any future procurement plans of IAF to meet the existing and future requirements.

Hi

You are very well entitled to your opinion till your opinion are based on nearest truths / facts available in public domain.

1. Selection of Rafale was not for that primary purpose , but it was the original MMRCA plan when France initially offered Mirage 2000.Delays since then meant the Migs will be replaced by Su30MKI initially and Tejas later. Even these 36 won't replace the Migs.

2. Cost is high ? Fly away or usage ?
Anyway we are right now spending 1.7% of our GDP here, which is growing at 7%. Money will not be an issue.

3. We have also brought flight hours of French airforce Rafales for training. So from day one our Rafales will be as capable as any in the French inventory.

4. This is the most idiotic things to say. Both are different ,with different intended roles. 0 Rafales or 100+ Rafales , there will be no effect on Tejas and vice versa.
Its like saying US navy will stop buying LCS because of Zumwalt.

5. Kills Make in India ? Well it actually opens up the Make in India.
We are paying them more than 1.5 billion USD for India Specific Improvements , it will be a waste If We don't get an Indian line. And a slightly more alert view across the news portals will see exactly what the French officials think.

6. With Italy an partner , it was never going to be.But we still have a deal big enough which " Others " can't match.... BAE Hawks....

7. & 8. Doesn't quite make a difference what you think here.

Induction of Rafael is not that bad as India already operate french platform, Mirage. But it is nevertheless a new platform which requires training of service-staff, pilots and then integration of armament, development of offensive / defensive strategies in collaboration with what India already has. 36 Jets also mean India can only keep them at one or two airbases only and its strategic scattering on multiple airports wouldn't be possible.

In my opinion, a war with India is due within next 2 years. My question here is that will India be able to absorb Rafael within this time-frame + would its pilots have developed skills to use this platform effectively?

We are buying flying hours of French airforce twin seater Rafales too for this purpose.

Thats your opinion, and you are also entitled to it. Kindly keep you judgements in your coverall boy.

Just some media stupidity. The problem is that people who have no knowledge of military doctrines, tactics, systems and specially information related to fighter aircraft start making statements. Lets accept, Pakistanis & Indians are obsessed with having a good fighter aircraft and ignoring anything else in the air force's arsenal let alone thinking about the naval and ground forces role in any conflict.

The basic difference in offensive, deception and defensive tactics are lacking in these media personnel leading to unnecessary hype, war mongering & delusion.

Then share something to enlighten us with your immense Knowledge about the tactics, doctrines, system and most important the fighter planes.

I hope this will make PAF more consider about TFX .

Yeah whats its status, and how much time does it will take Turkey to get it ready.

So ifs its not meant to replace MiG-21, which aircraft will replace MiG-21? Tejas? Its not even operational yet.

Combination of Su30Mki and LCA.

Thats your opinion, and you are also entitled to it. Kindly keep you judgements in your coverall boy.

As said by you , if its your opinion , means you actually believe in what you wrote , isn't it ? I would like to know the justification you gave to yourself for building up this opinion ?

PS:- Expressing an opinion on a forum , does invite judgements. And untill those judgements are not going personal or violating any of the forum rules , it should be taken positively.

what is this comedy? reporter and editor have great knowledge about Fighter aircraft's.
may be they got the information from Rafale PR department

India got scammed with the Rafale at the unit cost. Save your money and invest in your well being

India already has combat edge over pakistan, rafale would be an overkill, Mig 29s and Mirage 2000s of the IAF are more than enough to take care of pakistan.

Your military knows different

Hence the fear of attacking Pakistan

...
India will get the first Rafale in three years, with all 36 touching down by early-2022. Till then, in the event of a conflict, India will have to deploy two Sukhoi-30MKIs to tackle each Pakistani F-16 due to the latter's superior weapons package, including 80-km range missiles. But once the Rafales are inducted, Pakistan will have to deploy two F-16s for each of them.
...
Lost interest after this.
Author has little to no idea on aircraft or air-combat.
