There is no crisis. These people have homes back in their villages. They come to the cities and form slums.
That's unsustainable.

If the government gives them accommodation for free (which it does, slowly), am I an idiot for spending my hard earned money on buying a flat?

*this applies to most cities in the world.

China has shown a way to handle this. Don't allow people who can't afford to be in a city/ don't need to be in a city, based on a quota system.
