China has puny 1 Type 052D, but it's more advanced than any Japanese ship. Type 055 is the terror ship.

Russia has a lot of nuclear submarines, and those are the real power in the ocean.

USA has the most nuclear submarines, they obviously take the number 1 spot.

China has a huge submarine fleet but they are mostly conventional submarines, since those are the most cost effective for defending the near seas.

I agree. I don't think many people realize how scary a nuclear powered submarine is. It can go full throttle for long periods of time crossing vast distances in relatively short order.
