I think there is much more than ''changing players''. We are not in the radar of USA at least not yet. US defence minister Mattis said once ''(referring Turkey) we dont fulfill our ally's wishes''. he even offered to let SDF/YPG to fight PKK. That doesn't sound realistic at first but it may be possible by eliminating SDF commanders with PKK roots and replacing them with pro/neutral-Turkey arab/kurd commanders can work.

Replacing Iranian led PKK with American led PKK called SDF/YPG. Same goals, new masters.
