Our Elders were know old alphabet who as i know and they didn't know new alphabet. So if you ask your elders if they are still alive ) they will tell you everybody was know our old alphabet.

thats really Interesting.. they always tend to make it seem as if the empire kept everyone illiterate and ignorant on purpose to abuse and colonise etc..

It is not like that, Ottomans just entered bad stuations after 1800 because of internal and external issues. I think it was destiny of Ottomans, Sultans coldn't stop our falling...

Turks invented "yılan kavi" rifle firing system, which was increasing fire rate of rifle, also Rifling was using by Turks before europe etc.

ottoman stopped developing after 1600s. that's a fact.

it's called personal trait. ibn-i sina lived in an oppressive society, yet he wrote his canons. because he was brilliant, not because there was education.

the idea behind kıraathane was that there were 1-2 people who knew how to read. and they'd read books and newspapers to everybody in kıraathanes (kıraathane comes from the verb "karaa", "to read" in arabic, as in ikra bismi rabbike ...)

cannon/bombard making was an intricate and difficult job. people called rehtegar (dökümcü in turkish) performed the art of iron casting. don't think sultan mehmed was a rehtegar it would be safe to say that generally rehtegars died of explosion of their own cannons and bombards

We were not like underdeveloped, if we were like that how we ruled 3 continents and tens of nations and countries along 600 years...

Sultans couldnt stop it because the decline of the Empire was a long and slow process which happened over hundreds of years it didnt just started in 1800s, whole Europe progressed while we stood the same for centurys, as you know there was a climax of the Empire, after that there was no progress in economy, technology, military and continous land loss.
I would recommed you this video about the decline of Ottoman Empire its really informative.

I wouldn't agreed some parts of video, but many things are true as we read from history books, every power rises and falls somehow... Also i believe that our Sultans tryed to do their best but time is came for falling.

Look we can have this discussion forever but its a known fact that Ottomans missed the progress that Europe got throught despite having many European intellectuals in capital city.

The deficit in developement between Ottomans and Europeans got bigger and bigger the more time passed, in the end we were imported everthing, Weapons from several European countrys, Trains from Germany, Jewelry from Europe, spice from Europe and even Neo-baroque style architecture, Ottomans in the last 300 years of their existence was underdeveloped compared to Europeans this is just a fact, deniying it wont make Ottomans more glory but would let us look stupid in the eyes of knowledged foreigners.

Was reading through all the posts then came across this list, since I can't read Turk I hit the english translate tab and the list was completely different starting with Yezidi uprising in 838 with only a handful events listed as happening in Turkey. I'd like to know why the Turkish language and English language are so different?

Anyways, back to the PKK in my opinion if it is also a branch from ASALA then in reality the PKK has nothing to do with Kurds and is in fact a Socialist/Communist terrorist group using the Kurds and, as ASALA, Armenians to spread communism. The PKK is a threat to KRG and Turkey and other nations in ME. I would think that the best way to eliminate the PKK is for Turkey to work with KRG and build better relationship with Kurds in Turkey. Also for Turkey to recognize the Armenian Genocide.

Am I welcome here?

As you know wiki is an independent source... Turkish version is more detailed that's all.

I don't think same with you. We hear, read also from PKK sources. They are Kurdish originated... maybe Armenians back them a bit but nothing significant. Not related with Armenia.

Eliminating PKK would deserve a new thread. It's very complicated and not easy to solve. Other than that, Turkey or Turks will never recognize a so-called "Armenian Genocide" that has never happened.
