The 'clean-up' of Empress Market doesn't have to be this way

The out bursts arenr nesseccary on here the reality is the shops are illegally constructed they need to be taken down simple the law is the law stop beinf dramatic about it and accept it it happens everywhere in the world

1. Investors don't care about empress market.
2. MQM is complicit in this misgovernance. When IK knows he doesn't have government in the entire country, why is he providing ammunition to his enemies by allowing then to go open season on the poor? Mark my words: MQM will use this to max benefit. You don't understand the level of racism in people. This will be used to drive home the point that Waseem is helpless due to orders from above. Now if only MQM were in power with majority. Both PPP and MQM will milk it. This is madness on the part of PTI.
Um most Karachites will praise anyone who removes the encroachments and make roads safer and more accessible for them
The only problem Karachites have is with its limited scope they want it all over Karachi

Get rid of them them and keep the balance btw pathan and mohajir populations as they will keep whinning and use race cards if the otherones are spared for any reason
For the first time they voted for the same party it would be super weird for either of them to play the race card as both are over-represented in this government (compared to past)
Any who just hope all those kachra kundis in Metroville are dealt with that place is a dump

we both know its not gonna happen . do you see video where bahria twon mall demolished ? its not only against poor . please stop playing this poor poor drama now . even bahria is grilled and 100s millions worth plazas villas demolished too . ghareeb hain to faimly plannign kareen apni or mulk ki life better kareen clean kerny ke koi pesy nhi lagty . look how they throw bones meat and blood just because they are poor ?

they demolished heart of bahria town
Also in Islamabad they tried to play ghareeb card didnt exactly work out

Fantastic job by the Government!! They need to do it in each and every city of Pakistan and clean it up. People who are not happy with this are nothing more than some very fat hypocrites.

How about post-apocalyptic mad Max type world?
The Karachi street scene is already borderline post apocalyptia we just brought to where once only existed chaos if some have to suffer for the interest of many due to mistakes they themself made so be it

The poor and under-privileged are not to blame. End of story. We need to show empathy and provide meaningful alternatives before destroying their livelihoods.

The encroachments we see are a symptom of a huge, poor population trying to eke out a living. All these people must go somewhere. Wherever they put up shop, it will be government land. In effect, we are destroying their livelihood. Eventually, there will be a huge, country wide backlash.

Cut the poverty crap those who live in Pakistan know the kind of folks who occupy these places in the first place they are not poor but professional land grabbers the workers here are poor but so are most of pick pockets should we just let them go?
The law and of the land has to be enforced here so that we control commericial activities in Karachi and increase revenue
Soon the spaces freed will be utilized for bigger and more financially lucrative projects that will employ more people

Rich getting richer while the poor get poorer. Capitalist practices under the garb of Riasat-e-Madina.

When the law of the land has been effectively sidelined, and an entire economy has emerged on which the livelihood of poor rests, it is tyranny to enforce the law without providing alternatives. Supporters of this initiative are well fed, well off and detached from the vagaries faced by common people.

I believe Imran Khan has lost moral legitimacy for the encroachment campaign when irregularities are found in his own home. The hypocrisy of taking away livelihood from the poor while regularizing his own residence by payment of a fee is stark. As Mr. Aasim says, encroach if rich. At the very least, these poor people should also be given the option of regularizing their businesses, or alternates must be provided.
Its Supreme Court order for Mayor, and Mayor is performing this Task, as for Shopkeepers, replacement should be offered.

Implementation of law is must if you really want to bring change hiding behind poor is old habit of land grabbers

If the land doesnot belong to you well you dont have the right to do business over it its that simple
By removing them and using this land for more profitable ventures not only will we see an improved economic activity in this area but also more jobs

If the government felt sympathy, they could have launched an appeal on behalf of the poor people, arguing the inherent cruelty in such a measure.

Do you really think alternatives are being provided?

The jobs in 'profitable ventures' will be for educated, middle class people. Roadside stalls are the means for poor, uneducated masses.

A hard incentive to get education call it tough love if you must
More jobs of higher value will be created and the construction that will start will provide jobs for months to many low skilled workers

Yes, of course. They will enroll in sweet valley high and emerge with honors in economics, business, and finance. Disconnect at its extreme. I think the clouds are getting to you.
