"You are forgetting some differences.

the LTTE isn't extending the suicide bombings to the major cities of the world. It is confined to the area of conflict.

On the other hand, muslims are not being mistreated in the US or Britain or Spain yet they are bombing these cities"

Now, help me understand - you are not saying that confining suicide bombing to the area of conflict is bad/wrong? Are you saying suicide bombings in areas out of conflict are bad??

And If they are both bad and wrong, to exactly what "difference" are you pointing to? distinctions without a difference?

by the way - you may want to check out "just put your hand in mine" by Space Cowboys

If you threaten the world and not the area of your interest, then it surely will invite an international backlash and condemnation.

Mehsud is criticised in Pakistan and by the US and ISAF. Is Philippines concerned? No. He does not affect them.

Nothing is common except an ideology which is powerful enough to motivate them.

In Palestine, the ideology is an interpretation of Islam. In Sri Lanka, it is probably an extreme form of ethnic patriotism.

Wrong.

What is common to both is patriotism and ethnicity.

The problem in Palestine isn't Islam, it is Palestinian nationhood and the Arab ethnicity.

You are forgetting some differences.

the LTTE isn't extending the suicide bombings to the major cities of the world. It is confined to the area of conflict.

On the other hand, muslims are not being mistreated in the US or Britain or Spain yet they are bombing these cities.

They LTTE also does not consider the West directly responsible for subjugating Arabs and usurping their territory.

Arabs consider Israel as being the creation of the West, and supported and defended by it, and hence as being as responsible as the Israelis.

Also, Tamils from India are not rallying in the streets in support of the LTTE.
Neither are Hindu religious leaders in India doing so.

Whereas muslim religious leaders with huge followings in Iran talk about the rise of Islam and all that.

Name one muslim religious leader today who is both famous and moderate.
The Iranians have their own political beef with the West, specifically the US and Britain. But even there we are talking about the extremist fringe, which you keep bringing up to justify your arguments against the moderate majority.

Most religious leaders talk about the rise of their faith. Nothing weird about that.

Moderates tend to not be famous.

The Christian and Hindu leaders that come to my mind are all extremists.

Salim and SA,

The LTTE attack only in SriLanka because the perceive SriLanka alone to be the cause of their troubles.

Violent Muslim groups attack the West because they view the West as being the cause of the problems afflicting them.

The situation is identical.

Do you even know any famous Hindu Gurus/Swamis?

Is the Pope an extremist?

Bal Thakeray and the RSS is the only thing that comes to mind for me.

And bar the pope, it is radical evangelists calling for ending Islam and the end of America due to Homosexuality that I can think of.

My point being that these are the people in the news due to their extreme positions, and hence famous.

That I know of no moderates from Hinduism or not many from Christianity only indicates that moderates don't make the news.

Jawed Ghamidi is one moderate Islamic Scholar though, quite famous in Pakistan.

Bal Thackeray is not a religious leader. He's a politician.

RSS is an organization dedicated to social work and reformation.

And bar the pope, its radical evangelists calling for ending Islam and the end of America due to Homosexuality.

Yes, well you said that radicals tend to be famous.

The pope is the most famous Christian, and he's not an extremist.

My point being that these are the people in the news, and hence famous.

I'll tell you the famous Hindu priests in India.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
Sathya Sai Baba
Baba Ramdev

These are the guys you will see most often on TV, preaching Hinduism. They have millions of followers all over India and the world.
They are not remotely attached to any extremist ideology.

That I know of no moderates from Hinduism or not many from Christianity only indicates that moderates don't make the news.

You don't know any Hindu religious leaders at all.

Yes nice to see you ignored my mention of Jawed Ghamidi as a moderate Islamic Scholar famous in Pakistan.

Interesting that now you have digressed from the arguments that clearly show that there is almost no difference between the LTTE's actions and those of the Palestinians for example.

Of course it debunks your anti-Islam tirade so what is to be expected.

Bal Thackeray is not a religious leader. He's a politician.

Osama Bin Ladin is not a religious leader also. He is a politician.

Er...no I didn't.

Well, the point I'm trying to make is that in Islam, there are a very influential religious leaders who preach extremist interpretations.

In Christianity, there are fundamentalist priests, but to a lesser extent.

In Hinduism, there is no such thing as an extremist priest.

Interesting that now you have digressed from the arguments that clearly show that there is almost no difference between the LTTE's actions and those of the Palestinians for example.

Do you want to argue the case, or just complain that I've changed the argument?

I answered only the last part of your big post, I'll reply to the rest of it later. Don't worry.

Of course it debunks your anti-Islam tirade so what is to be expected.

I haven't even replied to the entire post. Don't get frustrated so fast.

Osama Bin Ladin is not a religious leader also. He is a politician.

Osama bin Laden follows the extremist Wahhabbi Islam, which has millions of followers.
Obviously, the guys who preach Wahhabism are extremist religious leaders.

does he preach?

surely Bal Thackeray is a follower of radical, violent, Hinduism also?

Thakrey follows Hinduism which has billions of followers.
And lets not say Hinduism is not an extremist religion.
