EADS Defence & Security selected to provide advanced TETRA network to secure Indian Parliament, New Delhi, India​

EADS Defence & Security (DS) has recently signed a contract to deploy a modern TETRA radio network to secure the Indian Parliament.

EADS Defence & Security through its line of business Security & Communication Solutions has teamed up with its local partner Sanchar Telesystems Limited to provide the Indian Parliament with a state-of–the–art digital, encrypted communication system based on TETRA technology. The new system will ensure voice and data communication, automatic vehicle and personal location and the capacity to connect to high speed data applications.

“The specifications of this advanced digital communication system for the Indian Parliament are in line with security requirements in the wake of the Mumbai terrorist attacks of November 2008. This system is needed to better secure the Parliament at the heart of Delhi” said Mr. Sandeep Salunke, IPS, Director of Parliament Security and a well-known technical expert and a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi.


“We have chosen the EADS TETRA system based on a thorough process of technical evaluation. It has proved its performance superiority and meets our strict technical and operational requirements. It will enhance the security of the Indian Parliament, by delivering high-quality voice and data as well as providing the infrastructure for the upcoming high speed data based value added applications” he continued.

“This is a prestige contract, which will be implemented in record time while accommodating the session schedule of the newly elected parliament. This contract represents EADS Defence & Security' second major public safety and security TETRA PMR venture in India, following its 2008 TETRA radio network contract with the Andhra Pradesh Police for the Cyberabad Region, which is already in operation.

^^^ As much I hate these old goons but you country's leaderships needs to be protected, even if you hate them. Imagine if your country's PM or defence minister got assasinated, everybody will be on the edge and people will feel more unsecure.

The last time the parliament was attacked, we mobilized a million men to the border, this is a good move, the leadership needs to be protected.

They have a lot of ground to cover when it comes to law enforcement and internal security, but that's a separate issue.
