Technology wise - aerodynamics as well engine, JAS-39 is more capable aircraft than JF-17. Even then JF-17 seems to have a better combat range than JAS.
JF-17 has a ferry range of 3500 kms with three external tanks with a capacity of 800 kg each. With 2 tanks the touted Combat range is 2700 Kms (1350 x 2). An aircraft in combat mode should fly a little faster and with some payload too. That should lead to reduction of range.

The Sheer size of this machine is a RCS disaster, even with empty load Su-30 RCS is high, imagine with full load, electronic systems does count for something but not for all, its just way to big.

Huge is also disadvantage in dogfight. You simply can't lose the sight of a big monster flying around.

The Turkish forces have subdued almost all Russian AD systems - including S-300/400 (operated by Russians themselves)- in multiple fronts within a span of couple of years!! So, I take anything Russian with a pinch of salt....

Due to massive distances of Soviet Union, there was an emphasise on large fighters SU15, Mig25, Mig31, SU27 series. However they did make smaller tactical fighters too.

India doctrine in contrast is to develop a trainer sized fighter jets, Yak 130 class. Large size of Indian airspace, you would think a mig29 size jet would be appropriate.

Tejas often compare to Alpha jet in term of size, Alpha jet has a combat range of 610 km with weapons as per Wiki page on Alpha jet, and its just AJT or Coin jet, how can earth fully mature fighter jet have less combat range than of Trainer jet, please explain??

They planned for that and that is why they have OBOG in it. Anyway, they will achieve that or not that is another story and only time will tell
