Tejas Air-to-air refueling trials will begin early 2018

As a run-up to the FOC in 2018, LCA LSP-8 is optimising flight profiles with the in-flight refueling probe (IFR). Air-to-air refueling trials will begin early 2018. First dry contact followed by wet trials. So far, LSP-8 flew 44 sorties with IFR.

Aerial Refuelling isn't requested for earlier airframes although it's in FOC.

Why does it need refuelling anyway.
Just perfect the technology and leave it to AMCA.

LCA has short range.

IFR extends range and loitering time. Second one is required.
