Maurya Dynasty united whole of India. Third Mauryan king Ashoka gave up violence and accepted Buddhism and started sending missionaries to spread teaching of Buddha.

Yes, we called it Bharat varsha(country of Bharat). By the way Roman Empire traded with India via different ports like Tamralipti in Bengal, Mujiris in Kerala and Arrikamedu in Tamil Nadu. When Roman Empire fell Arabs replaced them.

Rubbish - it was called India much before the Brits arrived here. Do you have any source to show that the Brits used the term first? We have enough evidence to the contrary.

After Maurya Empire fell, many parts of North-West fell to Greeks known as Indo-Greeks kings most famous of them was Menender(Menendra). One of the Indo-Greek king wore Elephant skull as symbol of conquest of India

The term India was first used in English(not that it was old English then) presumably at the time of Alfred the Great,means the 9th century.They got the term from Greeks.Greeks been using the term India since the time of ancient Greeks scholar Herodotus (5th century BC).You should really go back to high school history class.

India as a modern political entity came into existence on Aug 15 1947..but as a civilization we have already existed for thousands of years..the spiritual boundaries of Bharat Varsha was clearly defined in our religious worksd as from Himalayas in North to indian ocean in south to Sindhu in West..

The char dham (4 temples) of Lord Shiva for instance give a sense of the extent of Bharata, in a cultural/religious realm.
