Taliban strike US Bagram Air Base

I wonder about the quick communication of media with the responsible. US army shall consider hiring these media men in their communication dpt.
I also wonder, how well Iran TV is connected to all so called Taliban attacks!
I also don't understand this surge in attacks, while US is preparing to leave!!!!

Firstly we know Americans are liars. So why should we take more notice when they make noises. Clearly Press release both Taliban claims and Nato claims.

Anyway Nato and Taliban are friends so its another blue on blue

Suicide bombers carrying rockets and grenades attacked one of the biggest Nato military bases in Afghanistan today, killing an American contractor and wounding nine US troops.

About a dozen militants, many wearing suicide vests packed with explosives, were killed, the Pentagon said.

The fighting came the day after a suicide bomber attacked a military convoy in Kabul, killing 12 Afghan civilians and six foreign service personnel.

A spokesman for the Nato-led International Security Assistance Force (Isaf) would not identify the American contractor until next of kin had been told.

The attacks may mark the start of a Taliban spring offensive against high-profile foreign targets.

The early-morning assault on Bagram airbase, led by about 30 Taliban insurgents, continued for hours with sporadic rocket and small arms fire. One rocket landed inside the base, causing minor damage, but no insurgents managed to get inside, Isaf said.

"We're always prepared to deal with attacks on our base," said spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Clarence Counts.

Missiles ?

What kinda missiles ?

Where did the taliban get missiles from??

These are the BM-21 system artillery rockets, which the Mujahedin are expert at launching individually or from a system. They used these tactics in Soviet war, has been used in Pakistan especially launching at cities and do such things in Afghanistan even now and happens all around the world. Hamas/Fateh doing that in Palestine against the Israeli occupiers.

The Taliban have attacked the largest American military base in Afghanistan on the first day of the New Year despite US efforts to negotiate with the militant group, Press TV reports.

A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said on Sunday that fatalities had been caused after the militants hit the US Bagram Air Base in the north of the Afghan capital Kabul with nine missiles.

He added that they launched the attack when the US forces were celebrating the start of the new year.

Afghan officials also announced that the heavily-fortified airbase had been hit by a barrage of rockets, but claimed that the attack had not caused any casualties.

The militant group has recently intensified attacks against US-led foreign forces in the war-torn country despite Washington's efforts to give concessions to the Taliban and begin peace talks with them.

The US has reportedly demanded Qatar to provide militants with an office where Washington can embark on peace negotiations with the militants planned for early 2012.

US military officials say there are currently 91,000 US troops in Afghanistan -- down from the peak of 101,000 in June 2011.

The Taliban are conducting the strikes, despite the US secret talks with the militants as part of Washington's strategy to withdraw from Afghanistan by the end of 2014.
