Taliban kill 4 Pakistani schoolchildren: official
PAKISTAN - 8 SEPTEMBER 2009

PESHAWAR, Pakistan — Taliban militants on Tuesday shot dead four schoolchildren and wounded six others in an apparent sectarian attack in a remote tribal town in northwest Pakistan, officials and residents said.

The students were going to school in Atmankhel town of Orakzai district when the militants opened fire, killing four boys and wounding six others, local administration official Asmatullah Khan told AFP.

"It appears to be a sectarian attack as the slain students belonged to the minority Shiite sect of Islam," he said. "The attackers were Taliban."

Residents said the dead students were all younger than 16, but were not able to give the exact ages of the victims.

"I heard gunfire and came out of my home," local resident Samiullah Khan told AFP by telephone. "I saw people armed with Kalashnikov rifles fleeing in two jeeps, while several students were bleeding."

Orakzai borders Khyber district, where the military launched a fresh offensive against Islamist extremists about a week ago, sending thousands of residents fleeing and killing more than 130 rebels, according to army figures.

Pakistan's semi-autonomous northwest tribal belt has become a stronghold for hundreds of Taliban, Al-Qaeda and other extremists who fled Afghanistan after the US-led invasion toppled the Taliban regime in late 2001.

Taliban fighters frequently attack and burn schools in the northwest, while tensions are also rife in the area between the majority Sunnis and the Shiites.

Pakistan in late April launched an offensive against Taliban in the northwest, targeting rebels in Swat valley and the nearby districts of Buner and Lower Dir after the insurgents advanced close to the capital Islamabad.

The military in July claimed to have cleared the area of the Taliban threat, and has now turned its attention to the tribal belt bordering Afghanistan.

But sporadic clashes and attacks continue in Swat, and on Tuesday the military said it had arrested 32 suspected militants during search and clearance operations in the area in the last 24 hours.

Isn't Saudi Ideology grand? - Al-Qaida has refined the tactic of sectarian war in Pakistan, they exported it to iraq and now have brought it back to Pakistan -- and some in Pakistan are ready to give "Islamic" answer, witness:

Pregnant woman killed for changing sect

KARACHI: Ayesha Obaid, a pregnant woman who was seriously injured by gunmen in a Mirpurkhas village on Friday, died on Sunday night at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). Ayesha married Hassan Raza on June 25, and the two had been moving from town to town because Ayesha had changed her sect from Sunni to Shia, invoking the ire of her father, Qari Obaidullah. Hassan told reporters on Monday that he had sent Ayesha, his second wife, to live with a relative in Mirpurkhas after their house in Landhi was set on fire a few days ago, adding that he too was in hiding with his first wife and children. Hassan has appealed to the authorities for protection, fearing a reprisal from Ayesha’s family. staff report

Polygamists of the world unite -- Oh wait, polygamy is good and right, cuz.... - howz that go now?? Isn't there a law against polygamy in Pakistan?? Stinkin govt law! We got divine law, from arbys, it's divine.

.
By the way, did anyone notice how Sunnis = Taliban in the official statement...

.
The bigoted sectarian nature of the Salafi Taliban has never been a secret. The Salafis have never had problems committing atrocities against other sects including Shias and Sunnis, and have had a history of viciously targeting anyone outside the Salafi circle - the murder of the sunni cleric, Sarfraz Naeemi, is a recent example.

Salafism has little in common with the Sunni school of thought. Saudi Salafi ideology is based on Wahhabism yet some sections of the media keep referring to it as a 'hardline version of Sunni Islam' - ignorance is bliss I suppose!

Whatever happened to calling a spade a spade?

Question: Are these Taliban are even HUMANS.?????:angry::angry::angry::angry::angry:

.
^^ No they are not.
They work on indian agenda and run back to indian consulates in Afghanistan.
Western forces in Afghanistan finance the whole kiosk for obvious reasons.
Pakistan need to mine its border with Afghanistan other wise such acts will continue.

The same applies to you as well. Better keep India out of this. It is your mess - clean it.

And yes I have several proof and news link from Pakistani media for this.

Please, do not use death of innocent children to launch India bashing spree. We will have several others where you can.

Batman

There are two artilces posted above -- but let me see if I understand you correctly, if we so much say that the ideology of the Talib is heavily influenced by deobandi which is in turn heavily influenced by Wahabi/Salafi we would be stoking sectarian fires?? If yes, consider it you answer, you may get what you want.

what would we get by murdering school children?

^^ Indian wepons have been recovered from those Taliban.
They have been invloved in target killing of R&D engineers and doctors... how does R&D personal help Taliban cause? how come they even know who is involved in R&D in Pakistan or Abroad?
in past indian army has been throwing toy bombs in Pakistan border areas.. only to kill the children of Pakistan.
Any how... you are well come to post news and I hope you know the difference between news and article cum propaganda which gained strength in media since 2005.
If you are talking in reference to Saudi Arabia than rememebr no country have any claims to them.. or any grounds to discuss.

.
I have a family Member who works for the ISI - he helped capture a RAW agent (Indian) in the tribal areas.

Many will contest what I have said, but it's true.

Indeed I do and I invite you to do the same. Talib are the enemy of Pakistan regardless of where their funding comes from, wouldn't you agree?
