Taiwan’s president thanks military in the Chinese New Year’s message
about 15 hours ago
Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen thanked the armed forces for defending the island in Friday’s Chinese Lunar New Year message, saying the government had kept the peace in the face of China’s military exercises and pressure.
In a short video filmed before Sunday’s Chinese Lunar New Year, the most important holiday in the Chinese-speaking world, Tsai said this year and last year will be “challenging.”
“In the face of China’s military ships and aircraft regularly harassing Taiwan, or even conducting exercises around the Taiwan Strait, the government is resolute in maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait. Loan and region.”
“The army holds its position, fully defends national security, defends our common homeland. I would like to thank our brothers and sisters in the military for their merits,” continued Tsai. “In the new year, the government will continue to do its best for the economy and recovery, protect sovereignty and keep the peace.”
Ms. Tsai did not directly send Chinese New Year greetings to China, but only sent her best wishes to “friends” around the world who are celebrating the New Year.
