Taiwan president warns of ‘catastrophic consequences’ if island falls to China

Greece pushed the military dictatorship down. You assume the chinese do same as we did with their communist party? Then we two agree 100%

A military dictatorship is the lowest form of government next to feudalism so no, your ineffective military dictatorship and the regime of lies that followed is utterly incomparable with China's far superior form of government.

Say the same to Catalan of Spain. Spain a member of EU who all members support Spain integrity. Same the same to the catalan who vote to separate from Spain but refused. Say the same to the democracy of Spain.

Hypocrisy is the only word who claim in the name of democracy and freedom but do another thing..

What makes u have the right to ask China to do the same? You have no right and I hate hypocrite like you.

Democracy is not in name only. It needs to put into action. You need to practice what u preach. If Spain give independence to Catalan. I am sure China will follow for Taiwan. But from what I know, Spain will never let go of Catalan.
Oh and Chinese suddenly care about Catalans? Hah! The difference is that Catalans have been under Spanish dominion for centuries and centuries. A big number, maybe majority even are "Spanified" if I can say it like that. A lot of Catalans, maybe more than half, don't want to secede.

The story with PRC and China is completely different. The same nation, two different countries and political systems and the Taiwanese don't want to join the PRC. They lived as a different entity since the late 40s up to now and both countries went seperate ways.

It's as if Cyprus reunites again and then Greece wants to launch an invasion to annex it by force even if Cypriots wouldn't want to join. No,that would be fratricide sir and I wouldn't want it.
Someone from a country that used to be a literal military dictatorship has the audacity to say that China is a tyranny lmao.
YOU WERE UNDER MAO'S RULE FOR HALF A CENTURY AND YOU TALK TO US ABOUT DICTATORSHIP?

Not really, Mao only ruled effectively for 15 years from 1949-1964 which is just 3 terms. After 1964 he was only a figurehead. It's arguable that he deserved his term in office due to prior achievements.

Meanwhile your military dictatorship led you to defeat against Turkey in 1974. Prior to your military dictatorship you had 150 years of a hereditary foreign monarchy ruling you. None of them achieved anything of note.

China is a feudal dictatorship. Xi rules like a Pharao. Followed by his croonies. I dont see why taiwanese should accept that

Taiwan obviously is not convinced about the chinese system

not really, it's actually the exact opposite. China is the most meritocratic government in the world, proven by China's achievements. Xi didn't overthrow anyone to get to office, nor was he born into office. He gained office through legal achievements.

I understand that 'earning office' is a strange term in Greece because Greeks don't believe in meritocracy. It has never occurred in all of Greek history. Greece had 150 years of hereditary monarchy - a literal feudal system where rulers are born into their throne. They were literal Pharoah. Then it had military dictatorship which is basically a caveman government that gained power by force. Then you had rule by liars that led to your economy collapsing in 2008.

Do you live in China? Just asking, because the Xi Party is totally against the catalan Independence vote and openly expressed full support to the spanish government. I just warn you, not that your social score drops into minus and you get shipped into a re education camp. 😅

An illegal referendum where majority did not even participate. Beside that, Spain is democracy, China is not. Taiwan is a democracy. People who lived in a democracy cant live in a dictatorship.

Nice shifting goalpost again. What can u expect from name only democracy Spain who refused a poll for Catalan. And regarding the 43% turn out is becos Spain police block most Catalan from voting...

EU is not different from China. You only look into your own interest. What freedom democracy and human right are BS. At least China is not hypocrite unlike some who talk one thing but do another..

But then Spain are part of EU who brag about democracy and human right. Why are EU not practicing what they preach by letting Catalan get their independence? Tell me?

Double standard? You have no right to lecture China. Just a bunch of hypocrite.

I actually have no personal opinion about Catalonia. I don't know if they're better off free, are horribly enslaved by Spain or happily living under benevolent Spanish rule because I don't have the audacity to assume that I know better than Spanish or Catalonians.

Freedom of speech. I can lecture who i want.

Sorry, you have no right. Just a hypocrite who think you are something above China. At least China is not double face ugly people like EU countries or American.

I have a different question. You know cyprus is settled entirely by Greeks, i mean the southern part. You think we should integrate them into Greece as well?

I am actually quite good looking. 🙂

And yes, in Europe we can lecture anyone. Freedom of speech. I could walk right to Xi and tell him, that i find his politics pathetic.

Greece has a policy of enosis which is the total reunification of all Greek territory.

Cyprus is historically Greek and was broken away by Turkey and UK.

I don't see why any Greek would not want to reincorporate it if Greece had the means to do so.

At least our kings LOVED the country and the people with their hearts. They didn't experiment and act like selfish tyrants.
The only good thing that happened to China when it comes to politicians, was Deng Xiaoping. Chinese people owe this man a lot. Why? Because he saved them from the strict Maoist rule and Mao's insane policies. Prosperity in China started with Deng Xiaoping. I think that's when the Chinese people began to smile truly. And I'm not talking about the fanatic Party lapdogs.

Only with peaceful means! If the Cypriots themselves did not want to join us,I believe it would be unjust to force them.

It doesn't matter. Being the only country of its kind, China's success has already charllenged the fundamentals of the Western world, so it has to fight an uphill battle against all odds, alone, with or without Taiwan issue.
As I have repeated so many times, too many people fell to the white lies spinned by China government, like socialistic market economy. The success of China DID NOT challenge the fundamentals of the Western world. On the contrary, it proves the validity of the Western world since what China did was basically the same path that the Western world had treaded before. What China is doing is to take the credit of market economy and give it to its socialism. What the Western world is doing is to block the extend of China's market economy and force China to practice socialism. You want the credit for the socialism? Practice socialism!
We also called Hong Kong , hong Kong. But does it make Hong Kong an seperate state from mainland China?
If that doesn't matter, why does every person from Hong Kong, when he speaks on some Chinese TV, he would say "China Hong Kong", instead of just "Hong Kong"? No other Chinese people do that. If I am from Beijing, I would just say "I am from Beijing", not "I am from China Beijing".

so you are saying a hereditary tyrant is OK if they love the country. I can accept that. I don't agree but can understand why someone would choose to believe that.

Mao wasn't a hereditary tyrant and he didn't want to be. None of his children have any power. They're all just ordinary citizens today. He was trained as a librarian and attended a Confucian school. He wasn't a military dictator like Chiang Kai Shek. He only overthrew Chiang because Chiang stabbed him in the back twice.

But that's 50-100 years ago. What about, as you said, Deng and everyone since Deng? None of them are military dictators who overthrew others by force. None of them are hereditary tyrants. Every one of them came to power peacefully through merit. So what's the problem?
